Miss Frisby is a lifelong resident of this community and has been associated with newspaper writing for the past forty-six years. McHenry schools opened this month with an enrollment of 4,610 students. This included the pupils registered in High School District 156 and Grade School District 15 and the two local parochial schools. The McHenry Choral club will open its fall season of rehearsals Sept. 10. Forty-eight years of service wi{h the Borden Milk Company ended on Aug. 31 for Walter E. Patzke of Fountain Lane, McHenry, who has retired. A family gathering will be held at Wonder Lake, Sept. 9, in observance of the sixtieth wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Carlton Palmer who have lived in that area for the past twenty-eight years. Mr. and Mrs. John H. Miller and daughter, Ann, of John- sburg have moved to Fort Madison, Iowa. Ann Varese and her daughter, Leora, will be featured in "The Miracle Worker", in a program to be presented at Shady Lane, Marengo, on Sept. 12. He will move his wife and children here from Joliet Karl Stueben formerly a teacher at Edgebrook school has been named teaching principal at Valley View school to replace Barbara Hirt Zimmerman, who resigned. Mary Ann Rodenkirk and Cheryl Adams, who par­ ticipated in Youth Activity Day at the state fair and were members of the first place trophy winner unit, Nancy's Baton Twirlers, which received the governor's trophy. John Stilling, one of the oldest business men in length of service to the community, this past week observed his forty- sixth year in the garage business. Mrs. Lillian Holmes, a resident of Idyll Dell road for the past twenty-nine years, died at Memorial hospital, Woodstock, Aug. 14. Clark Chevrolet Sales is moving Sept. 1 to a new home the spacious building on Front street formerly occupied by Althoff's Heating and Air Conditioning. Maurice. Clark came to McHenry in Feb. 1947 and has been operating the local business since that time. A son was born Aug. 27 to Mr. and Mrs. Richard Carey.
