At the dinner hour, Atty. General William Scott, Clerk of the Supreme Court Justen Taft and State Comp­ troller George Lindberg met and greeted the assembled group. A1 Jourdan, McHenry county Republican chairman, was pleased at the large turnout, counting this as the largest crowd ever to attend. The Mets got 3 runs in the first inning, one run in the sixth and two in the seventh. The Sox got 4 runs in the first 2 runs in the se$ond, one run in the third inning and one run in the sixth inning to win a very exciting ball game. Tom Ludwig was the winning pitcher for the Sox and Joe Knaack was the loser for the Mets. Home runs for the Sox were hit by Jim Nelson and Bill Rowe. Home runs for the Mets were hit by Gary Durkin, Dale Urbanski and Ken Buck. On July 10 the Giants had an exciting win over the Car­ dinals. The final score was 6 to 5. Bob Hromec hit a 3 run homer to win the game for the Giants. Bob Buss also had a home run for the Cardinals in that game. On July 11 the Mets had a big win over the Braves. The final score of game was Mets 13 and the Braves 11. The Mets had a tremendous second inning with 10 runs driven in. Dale Ur­ banski was the winning pitcher and Bill Brogan was the losing pitcher. Steve Knox had a home run for the Mets. Jim McMahon had a home run for the Braves and Bill Brogan had two home runs. On July 12, the Cubs had a 7 to one win over the Tigers. K.C. Stahlman was the winning pitcher for the Cubs. In the first inning Mike Winters hit a smashing 3 run homer for the Cubs. Mitch Przetacznik was the pitcher for the Tigers. James Cox was 3 for 3 at bat with 1 double and 2 singles. On July 13, Rowe pitched the Sox to a 10 to 7 win over the Orioles. Albert Burger was the losing pitcher. Tom Ludwig had two home runs for the Sox. Tom JacobSen had two home runs for the Orioles, driving in six of their runs. Wow! On Sunday July 15, Bill Sharp pitched the win for the Car­ dinals over the Sox. Tom Ludwig was the losing pitcher. The final score was Cardinals 7 and the Sox 3. Mike Mai drove in 5 runs for the Cardinals which also included a home run. This was an exciting 8 inning ball game. Tom Ludwig and Rowe hit home runs for the Sox. The second game of Sunday was played between the Mets and Tigers. Joe Knaack was the winning pitcher for the Mets, he also helped the cause along by hitting a home run. Participating in the presentation were, left to right: Bill Blankenhorn, athletic director; Robert Schwartzloff, principal of West campus; Gary Fields, principal of East campus, Richard Swantz, superintendent of District 156; Herb Reihansperger, president of the Board of Directors and Chuck Cuda, golf coach. The plaque read: "Presented to the McHenry Country Chib in recognition of outstanding service performed for inter-scholastic athletics and the game of golf through the annual use of your course by our students since the year 1932". Mike Winters was the pitcher for the Cubs. Lee Snyder drove in the winning run with a double. Flash Hastings also helped the Cubs to a win with his fast running. Lee Steinsdoerfer and Greg O'Halleran were pitchers for th£ Giants. Bob Hromec was thfe batter for the Giants. He really has an eye for the baseball, hitting 2 home runs, one was a grand slam, the oth^t was on his own, accounting for all 5 of the Giants runs. We were all very sorry to hear about Marty Fossum getting two broken finger catching at a game the oth night. We all hope he gets ba' soon. Brennan had 3 hits for the Haus. D. Meyers was the winning pitcher. On Thursday night the Fox Lake Merchants beat Mr. K's v10 to 9. W. Patterson hit a 3-run homer in the last of the seventh inning to win the game for Fox Lake. V. Peterson had 3 hits for Mr. K's in a losing cause. In the second game, Carl's beat Old Bridge 8 to 6. B. Meyer led Carl's with 3 hits. W. Frantz had 2 hits for Old Rridge This week's "Player of the Week" honors go to W. Pat­ terson of Fox Lake. Wayne hit a home run in the seventh inning to beat Mr. K's. In all Wayne had 3 hits and 4 RBI's. Special recognition must also go to M. Bentz who had 5 hits and 6 RBI's against Jake's. LADIES SOFTBALL Ed's Rental team swept to a 23 to 4 victory over the Newcomers Tuesday evening. Mary Sue Parker hit two home runs and Jule Gende hit one for the winners. Ed's Rental team now has a 4-1 record. With perfect form and plenty of muscle, Dick Hiller is shown driving out a single in the tenth inning of the 16 inch softball championship game last Sunday.
