To clear up js&rtVf*of the rumors that have been going around, Don Milbratz wishes to inform residents that he resigned from the police force mainly because he felt he was getting too much interference in the performance of his duties, by some members of the board. The best time to get the facts on other stories cir culating around the village would be Aug. 14 at the board meeting. FOUND WATCH Frank Kurth has, in his possession, a man's wrist watch he found on the beach two weeks ago. If you are the owner or know, the owner, please call Mr. Kurth to identify the watch. FAMILY REUNION On July 22, for the third year in a row, a family reunion was held at the home of Gene and Lorraine Frost. About forty relatives attended, mostly from Chicago, and nearby suburbs. They all like to get together at the Frost house, because there's plenty of room to cook- out and for yard games. Also, thanks to the beautiful weather, the kids and young adults were able to go swimming. Dining was informal, with an assort ment of foods, cooked outside, including pre-soaked corn, grilled with the husks on. Guests began leaving about 8 p.m., the kids reluctantly, and all looking forward to next year's reunion. BEACH GALS The Beach Gals next meeting, Aug. 1, can't be held at the beach house due to construction in progress. Lolly Howe, a member, will have the meeting at her house 2713 N. Beachview at 7:30 p.m. Winner of award will be named, then. LITTLE LEAGUE Sorry, I didn't get the scores in last Saturday's game, but the Cubs did beat the Tigers by quite a few runs. Both of this week's games were rained out, and will be made up at the end of the season. Upcoming games scheduled are between the Sox and Cubs Aug. 2, and Tigers versus Cubs, Aug. 7. AN INTERESTING RIDE Mrs. Theresa Schultz and her sister-in-law, Edith Tamburino of Chicago, took a ride to Wisconsin a few weeks ago. They visited Mt. Horeb, a Norwegian settlement, where Mrs. Schultz, being Norwegian herself, felt right at home. They also went to New Glarus, a Swiss settlement, where they toured a cheese factory, and a lace factory. Both towns are beautifully set in old country atmosphere and tradition. The ladies did a lot of sightseeing and browsing around the shops. Mrs. Schultz obtained two music boxes, imported from Switzerland, to .add to her collection. She now has thirty- seven unique music boxes, of all types and from different places. Mrs. Schultz welcomes interested friends to visit and see this unusual collection. OCCASIONS Debbie Bitterman celebrated her eighth birthday, July 30, and Jim Klapperich turned 18 on that date. Aug. 4 is Darlene Jensen's birthday, and Myrtle Burg's is Aug. 6. Anniversary congratulations go to Greg and Marie Burg, Aug. 1. Legal Notice IN THE CIRCUIT COURT OF THE 19TH JUDICIAL CIRCUIT, McHENRY COUNTY, ILLINOIS PROBATE DIVISION ESTATE OF Sofia K. Improvements On Fairgrounds Numerous improvements have been made on the McHenry county fairgrounds in the past years for making the fair more enjoyable. These improvements were made in anticipation of keeping ahead of ecology requirements and health department needs. For example, in 1971 Building C, a 60 x 100 foot construction, was added to the fairgrounds. In addition, the fairground roads were seal coated. In 1972, a clear span F.S. construction, presently referred to as Building D and measuring 80 x 120 feet, was built and now houses the newest press room. This past year heat and air conditioning were added to this newest building. Blacktopped roads were put down in front of both the new buildings The parking areas were drained, additional poles were planted for more light on the fairgrounds and the grandstand stage was remodeled. The grounds are available for public rental. For rental in formation, contact Jack Hayes, Fair association treasurer. For centuries, there was no common measure of distance, or of land. Often, each were measured by "bowshot" or so many times the distance an arrow would travel, or so many moons total distance.
