Scribe Vacations While Hubby Does His Thing At Camp Took two weeks off from the routine and spent them visiting with the families in Chicago while hubby Steve did "his thing" as a lieutenant with the Illinois National Guard at Camp McCoy, Wis. Steve was particularly pleased that Gov. Dan Walker chose to have lunch with their company and that he then went on and visited the other troops in the field. Now to get caught up on the news, some of which is a little old and some new. Summer is fast coming to a close so don't forget to phone with news of your vacations and family doings. F^RIDA VACATION Roger and Pat Lasko and their children, Scott, Donna and Carol, just returned from a 1300 mile trip that took them to Florida. Points of interest were a visit to the Space Center, a day at Disney World, and a visit to Cyprus Gardens where they saw a beautiful water show. Pat said their visit to Disney world was fantastic but that's when the rain started to fall and as a result they spent several hours stranded in a Haunted mansion of all places where they watched a screaming body fly through the air at least 17 times waiting for the terrible rain to stop. One special thing they wit nessed was the Sea Turtles laying their eggs. Pat said oceanographers were on hand to tag some of the 50 or 60 pound turtles as they dug in the sand and laid their eggs. It seems they lay their eggs in August only and this year they chose to do so at 11 p m,! The Laskos had a marvelous trip south and hope to do it again in the near mture! HERE AND THERE The campers have really been taking advantage of the beautiful weather to get away to some peace and quiet. Walt and Doris Low pitched their camp at Coloma, Wis., where they were joined by the Jerry Freunds, Alby Adamses and Don Zamstils. Gary and Diane Linstad spent last weekend with the Art Christophers. The Linstads had spent two weeks camping in the West including stops in Rocky Mt. National Park, the Tetons, Yellowstone Park and the Big Horn Mts. Patty Christopher returned home today after spending the last ten days at the Illinois State Fair where she worked in the office of the Junior Division dormitory. Althea Walkington, Barb Seaborg and baby daughter, Britta, drove to Rockford Monday for lunch with Terri Grape. Clayton and Virginia Brace and Wes and Wanda Brace and children attended the Shook annual reunion at Belvidere. The Lloyd Barkers recently returned from a trip through the Dakotas. While sightseeing Helen thought of a cousin who did live there some thirty odd years ago, so stopping at a local gas station she inquired into the name and a young boy got excited called the lady, and his mother and some other persons in town and told them that a relative had arrived from Illinois, so in the long way around they all had a most refreshing visit. Just for fun - due to the meat shortage - not really, but, we heard that a certain dark haired gal has lost 29 pounds with only a few more to go and she is off to join the navy. Also a pretty redhead we see around town visiting some neighbors has also lost 27 pounds of meat. Weil call it that anyway. Good going gals!
