PAGE 8 - PLA1NPEALER • FRIDAY. SEPTEMBER 21,1973 Libertyville Host Warriors Saturday Co-leader in the North Suburban Conference, the Wildcats from Libertyville play host to our McHenry Warriors tomorrow afternoon in Libertyville. Sophomores play at 12 while the varsity gets under wav at 2 p.m. Libertyville is tied with Barrington for the top spot, each with two wins and no losses. The Wildcats are the surprise team in the conference at this early stage. They won their season opener against the highly favored ZeeBees from Zion i4 to 12, and last Saturday conquered Mundelein 18 to 12. Mundelein beat the Warriors in the opening game 28 to 20. Led by quarterback Tim King and split end Rick Burhart, along with 12 other lettermen, the Wildcats are a running ball club. They are big, and fast. They run from the wing T formation, and like to ground out the yards on the ground. Their favorite play is the power sweep, and in the first two games it has been quite successful. Our "Warriors" know they have their work cut out for them Coming off of last week's smashing win over Crown, should give the team the confidence they needed. The Warriors played great defense last week, holding Crown to 18 yds on the ground. If the defense can hold, we know that the offense can score from any point on the field. It should be a bang up game, and if you are really a football fan you won't want to miss it. Hope to see you there. Mundelein over Lake Forest (Scouts finding North Suburban tough conference) North Chicago over Crown (Warhawk speed too much for the slower Vikes) Barrington over Dundee (Broncos will take over con ference lead with win) Zion over Crystal Lake (ZeeBees passing too much for Tigers) Warriors over Libertyville (Upset special of the week, defense will contain Cats, while offense rolls) tl New telephone books are out. Betcha a nickel you looked to see if your name is listed. Maybe you knew it all along, but the Montreal baseball team is a big surprise to us. They are hanging right in there. But, the Cubs are out to get them. Spoilers. If they should ask us during the off season, we would have to tell the Cub management to look for younger players with speed. The kind that can run. And, what has happened to the hit and run strategy? The home team has a passing attack this year that may cause a lot of trouble in the con ference. It is our line that will get a real test at Libertyville. Dick Rabbitt reports that the Wildcats like to grind out yardage on the ground. After a big spurt, our White Sox youth team has hit the skids. In telephone con versations, Walt Freund and Yours Truly have it all figured out for next year. We plan some trades. We still think the Cubs started down hill when they got rid of Joe Pepitone.
