COLNON HOME Colnon Home Included In October Tour One of the Holiday Hospitality day tour homes Wednesday, Oct. 3, will be the John Colnon House. , Th^ "Pasture" is the name given to the countryside residence of Mr. and Mrs. Colnon. Built about 1959, it is basically a U-shaped home, and that is the only basic thing about this most unique house. It overlooks some of the most virgin and rolling acreage in McHenry county. Mr. Colnon acquired this distinctive home from Mrs. Maurice Needham, long time Woodstock resident, the very first day he viewed the premises. As the visitor first sets foot in the foyer she is welcomed, at first glance, to expanses of sparkling glass walls, wide board walls in crisp white, and gleaming highly polished floors. Everywhere is the evidence of a home carefully attended to, belying the fact of nine children, ranging from almost teen-age to college, in residence. What the visitor assumes to be a guest closet in the foyer, which opens into the patio terrace, is deceivingly a wet bar. This is just one of several ^interesting and unusual con­ veniences in a well planned home. The spectacular view of the countryside from the large windows in the living room is awesome in its beauty; however, the choice of interior colors and furnishings blends perfectly so as not to detract from nature's setting. Colors include yellows and greens and a touch of melon. Completing the picture is a fireplace with a raised hearth of marble. The guest bath and closet just off the foyer is an uncommon blending of subtle blue greys and dark greys-truly a cap­ turing of the old adage "elegance is simplicity". A garden manicured and attended with precision viewed through an entire wall of glass windows would make anyone thrilled to awaken to such glory! Such is the master bedroom in its delicious color of soft, dustv-rose pink. The walk down the long hall to the girls' bedroom is quiet and soft. The windows are shut­ tered and walls are white containing door after door of built-in shelves and storage immaculately stacked and kept. Five pink beds, as pink is for proposals, greet the visitor at the end of the hall in the girls' room. The beds have lovely white wicker headboards, for weddings, and lime green appointments, for lollypops, no doubt, completed by a rosy colored fireplace. Again one sees the expanses of windows- the south overlooking the garden and the east viewing the rolling countryside. The girls powder-room can hardly be believed! It's an entire room. It is of beautiful browns, blending beiges, built- ins and the most interesting Jonathan Livingston Seagull ceiling light fixtures. There is yet the dining room, the boys room, the glories of the outside, and the auxiliary's wonderful Weeders for the visitor to behold. This is but one of three remarkable and special homes offered for tour by the Woman's auxiliary of Memorial Hospital for McHenry County. The tour always has its start at the Gift and Thrift shop on the Square in Woodstock.
