To add to the confusion, the vaudeville circuits began breaking up as talking pic tures captured more of the pub lic. Both these people and fhe silent movie houses added more daring acts to each program. It was the time when the cir cus world also began to feel the economic pinch and many circus acts began being performed on wide stages with the house or chestra providing the background music. My last "silent movie" was viewed when I was a ten year old in Chicago, after returning with my family for a visit to our old neighborhood around Western Avenue and 22nd Street (later re named Cermak Road after the Chicago mayor who_was assassi nated). The Hurricane defense was again superb with Mike Dalton, Joe Wagner, Cal Babcock, Mike Pierce, and Bill Adams leading the charge. The shutout, however, is the second straight suffered by Marian and the offensive team must begin to jell if the Hurricanes hope to make themselves known in the S.C.C.
