St. Johns avenue, McHenry, will celebrate their golden wedding anniversary Saturday, Oct. 13, at St. John the Baptist Catholic church, Johnsburg. An afternoon Mass in their honor will be celebrated at 3 o'clock. An open house reception will take place at the Johnsburg Community club from 8 to 10 p.m. where the honored couple will greet their friends and relatives. Agatha Schmitt and John Thelen were married Oct. 17, Th' sitiation we find our selves in, in society, t'day, r'minds me o' th' way some folks run their homes, wi'out th' proper management t' keep things perkin' along smoothly. Seems t' this o' lr.dy that th' upheaval, necessary t' straighten out things, again, makes fer a lot more unhappy circumstances 'n keepin' a tight ship, an' runmn' on an even keel d be. A gittin' inter too many projects, an' lettin' th' homestead go t' pot, while dabblin' in th' neighbor's business, ain't sich a good idee, sometimes. Th' trick is, t' be able t' manage home-base in good condition, so's t' be prepared t' be able t' offer aid when it's needed. That hain't been th' case, in this country fer a long, long time. Seems that th' job right here, requires full-time attention. No one knows, but the folks a runnin' th' government, what th' true facts are, an' we trust that intentions 're honorable, but seems t' me that we better be mighty careful o' what's happenin' here at home. Th' people 're gullible In a bein' led t' believe they c'n save th' world. Wi' other powers committed t' runnin' th' world, seems t' 'ppear as though there's a need t' mend our own fences, an' close th' gates, fer our own pertection. Sometimes me mind wanders o'er th' last decade, an' I wonder if we wuz inviegled inter th' position we hold, in th' world, t'day. Not a suspicious oF lady, at heart, th' voice inside seems t' warn o impendin' problems, greater 'n th' ones weVe known. It's too bad that grown men can't conduct emselves like good statesmen. It jist goes t' show how important it is t' know who yen're a puttin' in office, wi' your vote. We need upright men, int'rested in posterity, in th' development o' this great country, not in material things, but in spiritual an' humanitarian education o' th' people. One thing we find difficult t' cope wi', is th' hoards o' folks, comin' in from all parts o' th' world, havin' a drastic effect on society here, changin' th' entire picture o' what we've known as our America. T' have men in high office, willin't' act like "Mice at play, when th' cat's away," lets us down, an' most o' all, th' man they wuz chosen t' serve. Grandma Radtke Senior Citizens Plan Artistic Displays 1923, in St. John the Baptist Catholic church by her brother, the late Rev. Nick Schmitt. Attendants at the wedding were Ben J.
