PAGE 20 - PLA1NDEALER-WEPNESPAY, OCTOBER 17, 1S73 FIGHT REPCO BLAZE - Four fire companies were called to the Repco Enterprises plant on Route 12, south of Richmond, last week after a fire broke out in the attic. The fire, which possibly started from electric wiring, burned through the trusses and then dropped half of them Inside the building onto the floor. Approximately thirty firemen from the Richmond Fire depart­ ment, Spring Grove Fire department and Company One and Company Two of the McHenry Township Fire district helped fight the blaze. STAFF PHOTO-WAYNE GAYLORD Thirty-Four Nurses Awarded Certificates Thirty-four nurses from 11 towns in McHenry county, including eight from McHenry, Johnsburg, Fox Lake and McCullom Lake, were awarded Certificates of Continuing Education by the State of Illinois Bureau of Emergency Medical Services Oct. 12 at McHenry hospital, after they had successfully completed a ten-session course on emergency care of the sick and injured. Lynn Rew, R.N., staff development instructor at McHenry hospital, coordinated the course, which was presented by local physicians and nurses and funded by the State of Illinois Department of Public Health. UNICEF is ex­ ploring non-formal, out - of - school channels for education to reach functionally illiterate youths beyond school age. HONOR EXTENSION WORKERS Four Illinois Extension workers are to be presented special awards at the Annual Illinois Extension Advisers' Conference in Urbana next week. Award winners include Donald Smucker, Extension Adviser in Vermillion County ; Mavid Mills, Extension Adviser in Macon County; Donald H. Arnold, Extension Adviser in McHenry County; and James Shearl, Extension Adviser, Madison County. The advisers will receive a special "action" award for workers with less than five years of service. They must have initiated an innovative type program, used mass media communication and i m p r o v e d t h e m s e l v e s professionally while engaged in University of Illinois Extension programming. Smucker of Vermillion County won his award based on an overall outstanding youth program with special emphasis on a "groovy garden" project for low income youth, work with migrant workers' children, and junior leadership programs. David Mills, of Macon County, also put much em­ phasis on working with low income youth in a GTO (Green Thumb Operation) gardening project. Mills has served as a specialized livestock adviser in his own and surrounding counties and developed a winter leadership camp for 4-H members. Here And There In Business Chuck Froula, it was announced, has been recognized as a LIFE MEMBER of the ILLINOIS ASSOCIATION OF REAL ESTATE BOARDS MILLION DOLLAR CLUB, Chuck became eligible for this recognition by producing over a million dollars in real estate sales each year, for three consecutive years, 1970, 1971, and 1972. During this time Chuck worked through the offices of McHenry Realty, and Northern Illinois Realty Service, Feb. 1, 1973, Chuck formed his own firm, COUNTY-WIDE REALTY with offices located at 2906 yj. Route 120, in McHenry. Don Arnold, of McHenry County conducted outstanding health education and venereal disease surveys and educational programs and developed a roller skating activity for his 4-H'ers in a large urban area. Development of a 4-H leaders' information program won the "action" award for James Shearl, Madison County. He has also been an active member of the Illinois Ad­ visers' Association employee benefits' committee. Awards for the winners will be presented by the Illinois Bankers Association at the Association annual meeting on the University of Illinois campers.
