PAGE 2 - PLAINDEALER-FRIDAY, OCTOBER 26, 1973 LUTHER LEAGUE MEMBERS Luther League Plans Halloween Party Oct. 28 A Halloween party has been planned by the Luther league or youth group at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran church, 401 North Green street, McHenry, Oct. 28. The bewitching hours will be 7 to 9 p.m. in the fireside room of the church. Everyone attending will be asked to wear a costume, with the grand finale of the evening being the judging of the costumes. The league recently com­ pleted a successful "slave day" which involved members of the league working for various people and then placing donations for the work into the Luther league treasury to provide scholarships for the annual winter retreat held by the group at Lutherdale Bible camp, Elkhorn, Wis. The officers of the group include Lowell Kivley, president, Jeff Damiani, vice- president, Felicia York, secretary; and Jeff Haddick, treasurer. The sponsors include Earle and Lynette Trier, Larry and Lynn Lund, Harold and Shirley Kivley, and Les and Madge Carlson. MR. AND MRS. RUDY C. ILMBERGER Dorene Vycital Wed Oct. 13 In Houston Rite Harvest Time Tabernacle in Houston, Texas, was the setting for a beautiful wedding that united in marriage Miss Dorene G. (Dee) Vycital and Mr. Rudy C. Ilmberger. Pastor F.L. Thornton officiated at the ceremony Oct. 13 in a church decorated for the occasion with \ ^P" . . . Pretty Miss Vycital, given in marriage by her father, selected a sata peau and lace, floor length dress with long lantern sleeves, high neckline and detachable train ruffled with white lace. Illinois home economists will be taking the spotlight from Oct. 28 through Nov. 3, says Pat Frank,^Ex­ tension adviser in Home Economics, McHenry County Cooperative Extension service. Home economists throughout the state will be celebrating this first time event. The home e c o n o m i c s p r o f e s s i o n represents a wide range of occupations and concerns affecting family life. Ms. Frank feels that home economics is well described by this excerpt from Governor Walker's proclamation: "While active in numerous services and commercial en­ terprises, home economists are concerned primarily with strengthening family life. This is accomplished through education, improving goods and services used by families, research to discover changing needs and ways of satisfying them and promoting com­ munity, national and world conditions favorable to family living. By focusing their professional skills on im­ proving the standards of living and the quality of family life, home economists contribute much to the safety and welfare of our state and nation." broidered lace and pearls and held a three-tiered veil. The bouquet was of white daisies and white roses. Laurene (Sue) Vycital of McHenry acted as maid of honor for her sister. She wore an apricot-colored crepe dress with white lace bands in the skirt. Her headpiece was of matching color and she carried a bouquet of mums and car­ nations colored to match her dress. Hector Chavez, stationed at Camp Hood, Killeen, Texas, served as best man. Daniel and Dawn Gargaro, nephew and niece of the bride, were usher and usherette. Mrs. Vycital chose for her daughter's wedding a long, predominately green jersey dress with black accessories. Mrs. Ilmberger wore a long green and beige knit dress with beige accessories. A reception for sixty guests was held in the church parlors following dinner at the Ramada Inn, attended by twenty-six. When the bridegroom's tour of duty with the Army is completed next June, the newlyweds plan a trip to Germany. They will make their home in Killeen, Texas. The bride is a 1973 graduate of McHenry Community high school. Her husband graduated in 1971 from Proviso West high school. He is a member of Army Specialist 4, the Cavalry division. Among those attending the wedding were Mr. and Mrs. Harold Vycital of McHenry, Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Ilm­ berger, daughter, Ursula, and FALL FAIR Sisters, Mrs. Linda Dawson and Mrs. Arlene Kopsell are joining efforts in preparation of the Novelties booth for the St. Paul's United Church of Christ annual Fall Fair to be held Saty^day, Nov. 17, at 485 Woodstock street, Crystal Lake. Many useful and decorative handmade items will be for sale. The fall fair will be open to the public from 9 until 6 with a hot lunch being served from 11 to 2 and 4 to 6. HELEN ROSE SCHMID P.T.O. SPEAKER -- Helen Rose Schmid, an outstanding speaker on the techniques in parent-teacher-child relations, was scheduled to address the Valley View school P.T.O. meeting Thursday, Oct. 25, at 7:30 p.m. Her appearance was jointly sponsored by Parkland Junior high P.T.O. son, Rick, of Ingleside, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Nerstad of Florence, Ala., formerly of McCullom Lake, Mrs. Robert Beal of McHenry and Mike McDonough of Lake Geneva, Wis. The bride's sister, Elaine, and husband, Frank Gargaro, and their family reside in Houston and also were present at the ceremony. CHILDREN AID UNICEF Mount Hope United Methodist Sunday School children will collect door to door for UNICEF during Sunday School, between 10 a.m. and noon, Oct. 28. Children are asked to wear costumes that morning (no masks). Each child is asked to cover and decorate an empty soup can for the collection. Afterward there will be games and lunch served to all children and chaperones. Prizes will be given for best costumes. All children will need a permission slip. Parents should pick up the children at 1 p.m. 1 Snow Ball Dinner Dance Is Scheduled There is a beehive of activity in progress at the Lakeland Park Women's club as the committee members complete plans for the seventeenth an­ nual Snow Ball dinner dance. The event will be held at the McHenry Country club Saturday, Nov. 24. Dinner will be at 7 p.m., and dancing will start at 9 to the music of a fine orchestra. These dinner dances in­ troduce the Christmas time festivities for club members and their friends who attend. All club members have tickets, or they may be ob­ tained from the ticket chairlady, Lyda K. Radisch, at 1712 North Knoll avenue. Band Receives Hearty Welcome At Barrington The members of the McHenry Senior Citizens club kitchen band received a very hearty welcome when they played for the Barrington Senior Citizens club Sunday afternoon, Oct. 15. Although the band has given previous programs for the Barrington Senior Citizens, they received a tremendous ovation at the conclusion of the program, which delighted the band members. The program featured solo singing, dancing couples and special band numbers, some semi-classical, old timers and current hits. At the conclusion of the program the band was invited to share the refreshments and visit with the audience. Robert Kelly Weds Harvard Girl October 17 Robert Kelly, son of Mrs. Harold Kelly of McHenry, and Beverly Kueck, Warren, Mich., daughter of Mrs. Herman Kueck of Harvard, were married Oct. 17 at the First United Methodist church, McHenry. Mrs. Patricia Mc- Carroll, sister of the bridegroom, and Victor Ivey of Bracketteville, Tex., attended the couple. A reception followed the service for fifty guests at Woodstock, where the young couple will live. PERSONALS Mr. and Mrs. George Posthuma visited their daughter, Connie Morgan, and family in Tulsa, Okla., where they spent several days at the state fair. They also visited their grandson, Raymond Morgan, at Oklahoma State University. Mrs. Barbara K. Hoeh, Whispering Oaks, enjoyed the company of her two grand­ children recently while her daughter and husband flew to Mexico City. Mrs. Hoeh returned to Chicago with the children and stayed a few days with her sister in Oak Park. From there she went to Otsego, Mich., for a lovely weekend with her daughters-in-law. She is happy to be back in her lovely home again in Whispering Oaks. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Heuser and daughters, Patti and Suzy, of Bellwood, spent Sunday with his mother, Mrs. Helen Heuser. Mrs. Richard Sedar and children, Kevin and Ellen, of Waukegan, were Sunday visitors in the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Bienapfl. Mrs. James West, Itasca, spent Friday with her aunt, Ann Frisby.
