Lakeland Park Anne Moore 385-6448 Snowball Dinner Dahee Plans Are Near Completion I heard plans for the seventeenth annual snow ball dinner dance are running smoothly and that all members of the Lakeland Parte Women's Club are anxious to sell each resident their tickets. Nov. 24 is the date to circle on your calendar as the dance will be held that night at the McHenry Country Club. Dinner will be served at 7 p.m. and dancing will begin at 9 p.m. The decorating committee is busy at work to assure us of lovely festive objects to catch our eye. Club officers,g Mary Dobbins, president; Barbara Emory, vice-president; Lyda Radisch, treasurer; Sharon Gacek, Secretary; and members Adele Arndt and Helen Strandquist are working hard as members of the decorating committee. I'm sure everyone will delight at the pretty trimmings at the Country Club that evening. Be sure to obtain your tickets and join your friends and neighbors and help make this year's dance a huge success as well as a truly enjoyable evening. If you have not been con tacted to purchase your tickets, do phone ticket chair-woman Lyda Radisch, 385-2754. WAGNERS ENJOY AUTUMN TRIP Jerry Wagner was a real doll and phoned with news of the recent trip she and hubby Lloyd enjoyed to points north and east. They spent nine days on the road and added 3,300 miles to their car when they drove to Buffalo, New York, where they viewed Niagara Falls from both the Canadian and American sides. They then were off to Waynesville, Pa., where they visited Jerry's relative. From there they drove to Gettsyburg, Lancaster and Montvale, Pa., where they enjoyed the many sites as well as the beautiful autumn weather. They spent some time in Glouchester, Mass., where they stayed at a place located right at the edge of the Atlantic Ocean. On the return trip home they visited Ottawa, Canada, and Lake Champlain which they thoroughly enjoyed. Jerry said it was a beautiful time to visit these places and that though they were glad to be home where they could stand up for awhile, they had a tremendous trip! SCOUTS ENJOYED OUTING The Girl Scouts of troop 320 had a terrific time at their outing Saturday, Oct. 20. Local troops from the area enjoyed the day hiking, the cooking out and eating all the goodies, and singing at the top of their voices in true Girl Scout spirit at4he sing along they had all held at the recreational grounds in Woodstock. It was a fun day for everyone who joined. in the outing I was told! A REMINDER The association dues and garbage service payments are past due for the families who make two payments a year. The first payment was made on May 31 and the second payment was due Nov. 1. There is a re instatement fee of $2.00 for delinquency. ATTENDED DINNER DANCE John and Sharon Gacek had a very enjoyable evening last Saturday when they attended the 86th Army Reserve Com mand Military Ball held at the Arlington Park Towers. They enjoyed the delicious dinner from what I heard they were a hot number when it came to the polka! A CHAMP IN THE MAKING Speaking of John and Sharon Gacek, their beautiful Irish Setter Rocky won the first leg of Champion Division on Sunday, two more show and Rocky is sure to be a champion in the obedience division. Hang in there, Sharon...and Rocky! NEW SON CHRISTENED Little Mark Kasper Vann was again center of attention in his household Sunday, He was christened at Zion Lutheran Church in a ceremony con ducted by Pastor Herman Graef while his proud God parents, Elvi Lord and Lester Laufer, proudly looking on. Mom and Dad, Lucille and Kasper, held a dinner at their home following the ceremony. Lucille's parents, Carl and Emma Laufer, were on hand to celebrate and from what I heard Emma really helped the new Mommy! Other guests included Lester's wife, Barb, Elvi's husband, Jim, and their children, Vicky and Greg, Endle and Ann Vann and their daughters, Bonnie and Katherine, and Lloyd and Linda Laufer and their children, Michael and Valerie. And, of course, Mark's little sister Mar jorie shared in all the attention too! It was a happy day for the Vann family! HALLOWEEN PARTY FUN!! Troop 320 held their Halloween party Monday night and from what their marvelous scribe Renee Plucinski told me . all the girls had a terrific time. "Halloween music was played and the girls enjoyed delicious snacks consisting of cake and cookies. The funniest costume was shared by Vicky Kopsell. who was an old lady and Lisa Bassett who was the old man, fashioned after the Laugh-In characteers. The best costumes were Diane Fena who was a jennie, Kim Cynowa who was a flower and Kelly Swiges who was a gypsy lady. Games and prizes were highlights of the evening and I was told Susan Treadwell won the M & M game. I just find it hard to believe that the troop's very helpful scribe was a devil! Everyone assures me a fun time was had by all!. FAMILY OF 'THE WEEK! Meet the Kopsell family. Twelve years ago on May 27, Jim and Gladys (known to her friends as Shatzie) Kopsell exchanged their wedding vows. They moved to Lakeland Park from Crystal Lake in 1966 with their two children. Vickey is 10- years-old and their son, Wesley, is nine-years-old. Jim is a foreman with a large construction company and Gladys is employed by Edgebrook school. She is also assistant Girl Scout leader for Troop 320, of which Vicky is a member. Family fun activities include fishing, camping and bowling which they alll enjoy. KIWANIS NEWS WONDER LAKE CLUB The Wonder Lake Kiwanis club's twenty-fifth anniversary and inspirational night, held Oct. 25 at the American Legion home on Ringwood road was a huge success with every club of 1-1 District 20 represented. Feature of the evening was the presentation of a silver etched plaque to "Mr. Kiwanis", Horace Wagner, for his twenty-five years of dedicated service to the club. Horace was also presented with the club's Legion of Honor award. Dr. Ruggero and Tom Mathews were cited for their "Senior" club membership. Bob Howe, who is District 20 lieutenant Governor, presided over the evening's program and introduced 1-1 District Governor Ralph E. Linder, of Springfield, who delivered the inspirational message of the evening. He stressed a need for wholehearted support of wedding anniversary Monday, Nov. 5.
