Legal Notice AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING AN OFFICIAL MAP BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MCHENRY, MCHENRY COUNTY, ILLINOIS, as follows: Section l. It is the purpose of this Ordinance (a) to aaopt an official map, (b) to adopt and designate official standards for the development and redevelopment of the municipality, and (c) to provide for the filing of copies of such maps and standards in the office of the City Clerk for the information of the public. Section 2. The Standards and Specifications contained in the Subdivision Control Or­ dinance" of the City of McHenry, Illinois, adopted April 17,1961, and as amended, relating to the design and construction of Streets, Alleys, Curbs and Gutters, Sanitary Sewerage, Storm Water Drainage, Water Supply and Legal Notice AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING AN OFFICIAL COMPREHENSIVE PLAN WHEREAS, the Plan Commission has caused a Comprehensive Plan and an Addenda to said Com­ prehensive Plan to be prepared on its behalf by Harland Bartholomew and Associates, which Comprehensive Plan is dated April, 1970, and is entitled "Comprehensive Plan- McHenry, Illinois", and which Addenda is dated September 7, 1973; AND WHEREAS, the Plan Commission recommends that the Mayor and City Council adopt the aforesaid Com­ prehensive Plan, and said Addenda, as and for the Official Comprehensive Plan of the City of McHenry: AND WHEREAS the City Council has considered said Comprehensive Plan and the said Addenda thereto, together with the recommendation of the Plan Commission, and finds the adoption of the Official Com­ prehensive Plan to be in the public interest; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF McHENRY, McHENRY COUNTY, ILLINOIS, as follows: Section l. That the aforesaid recommendation of the Plan Commission be and it is hereby accepted. Section 2. That the above described "Comprehensive Plan-McHenry. Illinois.", together with the aforesaid Addenda thereto be and the same are hereby incorporated herein by reference and are hereby adopted as part of this Ordinance and shall be known as the Comprehensive Plan of the City of McHenry. Section 3. Tne Com­ prehensive Plan of the City of McHenrv shall be identified by the following statement marked or stamped thereon: "Adopted by reference as part of the Comprehensive Plan Ordinance passed on November 5, 1973 bv the City Council of the City of McHenry Illinois, ap­ proved by Joseph B. Stanek, Mayor, and attest Earl R. Walsh, City Clerk.'5 Section 4. At least three copies of this Ordinance shall be kept by the Office of the City Clerk for inspection by in­ terested persons. The City Clerk shall also make available copies of the Ordinance for purchase at a price of $10.00 either through duplication in advance of contemplated demand or upon order as required. The foregoing copies of the Ordinance shall be in addition to the original codv which the Statutes require the Clerk to keep as part of the official record of enacted or­ dinances. Section 5. Any provision of this Ordinance held invalid shall not affect the validity of the remaining provisions. Section 6. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval and publication as provided by the Statute. PASSED this 5th day of Novem­ ber 1973. Section 7. A violator of any provision of this Ordinance shall, upon conviction thereof, be finednot less than $25.00 nor more than $500.00 for each day such violation is permitted to 'continue. Section 8. This Ordinance, including the Official Map attached nereto, shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval and publication as provided by the Statutes. FORTY YEARSAGO (Taken from the files of Nov. 16, 1933) McHenry with surrounding territory is shivering in the grip of almost zero weather this week and residents awoke Wednesday morning to read thermometers that averaged from six to eight degrees and the ground covered with a light blanket of snow. The W.L.S. folks of Chicago are delighted with Oakhurst and McHenry couhty and have adopted Oakhurst as their playground for summer and winter. The Cumberland Ridge Runners came out to hunt with Harry Wright and Eugene Hughes on the Hughes farm. The 1933 football season is over for the Warriors and the team made a record that stands head and shoulders above 6ny record of recent years. They had a great season with four victories, two losses and one tie. A party of friends surprised Miss Loretta * Steffes Monday evening in honor of her bir­ thday anniversary. Twenty-six guests were present to enjoy the evening in music and dancing. McHenry Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star will sponsor a hard times party in Masonic hall, Nov. 18. Old clothes, calicoes and overalls will be the popular costumes. TWENTY-FIVE YEARS AGO (Taken from the files of Nov. 18, 1948) A wedding of unusual beauty was solemnized Nov. 11 at St. Mary's church when Miss Kathryn Nye became the bride of Mr. Thomas F. Bolger. Rt. Rev. Msgr. C.S. Nix officiated at the nuptial service. Earl )Valsh, accompanied by George Miller of Chicago and Miss Ellen Walsh of South Bend, Ind., witnessed the Notre Dame football game at South Bend Saturday. The board of education of the McHenry Consolidated School District 15 has called an election for Nov. 27. The public will be asked to vote for or against the erection of a new building for the lower grades. The members of the Businessmen's association of McHenry are now working day and night for their carnival to be held in the Roller Rink and which they hope will become an annual affair. Jay Christy, Jr., of Ringwood attended the homecoming at the University at Champaign Saturday. Walter Frett, young son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Frett of Johnsburg, is confined to his home with a broken leg which he suffered recently during a football game. Nine young musicians, most of them from McHenry under the direction of Dick Heuser, have a dance orchestra which they hope will some day make a successful career. TEN YEARS AGO (Taken from the files of Nov. 21, 1963) Ten year old Johnny Bolton of Main street is recovering in McHenry hospital from a concussion suffered in a fall at his home. The McHenry high school auditorium is a flurry of Girl Scouts, munchkins, musicians, costumes and painters as the final week of rehearsals for Ann Varese's children's theatre production of "The Wizard of Oz" gets under way. Firemen from Company I were called to a vacant lot back of Whitens Men's shop Tuesday morning to extinguish a fire which damaged a door and window in the rear of the store. Apparently a rubbish fire out of control came in contact with oil or cleaning fluid contained in large drums causing an ex­ plosion. The North Suburban Con­ ference has released the following list of players chosen as the 1963 all star football team. The Warriors, who wound up in a blaze of glory, placed George Koch, Don Meyer, Ron Gelvin and Ron Kreutzer on the team. Kreutzer and Meyer were also chosen by the coaches on the "All Area Team" with Kreutzer being top vote getter in the entire area. St. John the Baptist church, Johnsburg, was the setting for a beautiful fall wedding Nov. 16, when Miss Sharon Catherine Thiel became the bride of Mr. William Edward Dust. Rev. Fr. John Dording officiated at the service.
