Santo to the Sox! That's rtw biggest splash since Abner Doubleday started using a round ball. Mona called to break the news. She didn't sound too happy. Bill DeVries couldn't wait to come in to see us so he phoned. He's one of those Cub fans who never appreciated their All-Star third baseman. send us a complete book on the MCHS Cross Country ac complishments. Will give it a good going over the first free night on our schedule. Dick Rabbitt has a story in this issue about the Warrior basketball games this weekend, with information on the teams. Walt Freund called twice. He felt better the second call after correcting name of a player sent to the Cubs. But, Walt isn't happy about Steve Stone going anyplace but in a Sox uniform. Eddie Bimbo, of Cub Headquarters, says he is going to follow Santo to the Sox. (Do we want him?) Marie never heard of Steve Stone, and all "Brenda" knows about baseball is what she hears. \ Last Friday the Walshes visited the courthouse. The first person we usually met was Mrs. Vernon Kays at the switchboard. She wasn't at the « post this time, but met her later at the Timbers. Saturday night she passed away suddenly. That news shocked the whole county. The ever popular Vern was telling us how he is going to run for reelection to the office of County Clerk. He is too healthy and able to retire. Gone from the Antioch lineup is Tim Mieure, the high scoring guard for the past three seasons. Antioch is picked by both coaches and writers to win the Northwest Suburban Conference this year. Between games on Saturday night the players Of The Week awards will be given out by Bill Day McHenry football coach. Marie thought we might switch to the Cubs now that they have those Sox stars. Quite a kidder! Santo is sure to have some great years with tlie Sox. A different spirit, you know. Parties are coming thick and fast in this holiday season. There goes the waistline. (STAFF PHOTO-WAYNE GAYLORD) Scots Fall To Kishwaukee 93-80 McHenry College basketball fortunes did not improve this past weekend as the Scots traveled to Malta and returned home on the short end of a 93 to 80 score. In some ways McHenry displayed their best effort of the year as they did go to the boards for 42 rebounds. Dale Groskinsky contributed 16 of these rebounds along with 21 points. Randy Blazier threw in 24 points while Wes Wittmus chipped in 19. McHenry led most of the first half but finally fell behind by one, 34 to 33 at intermission. The second half kind of got out of control as fouls mounted and Kishwaukee threw in 20 free throws. Groskinsky and Gould once again fouled out of the contest early and their absence was felt on the boards. This week the Scots travel to Harper on Tuesday evening, the eleventh and then play host to Lake county on Sat., the fifteenth in a 2 p.m. game at Marian Central.
