Initiate Experimental Section 'Of MCC Course For the fourth semester, Marshall G. Hassenmiller, instructor of sociology and anthropology j at McHenry County collie, will offer SOC 151X ~ ah experimental section of the introductory sociology course, f j "While| the term 'ex perimental*' scares many students, in the SOC 151'x class, it is not the teacher ex perimenting with students -- it is the students experimenting with themselves," said Hassenmiller. "The class is self-paeedf and research oriented," he added. SOC 151X covers the major concepts, Structures and social relationships covered in most introductory sociology courses. It offers j the student the op portunity to complete study of the subject in considerably less than the sixteen weeks allotted for other courses. There are twelve unit tests arid a comprehensive final test, which approximately 20 per cent of the students complete early. "The class was begun in response to a universal student demand to be able to ac celerate. There is more academic and physical freedom for the students," said Hassenmiller.
