We hope for more to become interested, because it is such a worthwhile organization to belong to. A bake sale was decided upon for Feb1. 17, which is on a Sunday. It will be from 8:30 to 1:30, so bring all baked goods to the firehouse between 6 and 7 Saturday night. In order for the auxiliary to function as a helpmate to the firemen we have to keep up these little functions to be able to back them up So come on gals, get the baking done and hopefully you good citizens will get your taste buds ready for all the goodies. The idea for a Kitchen Band went over unanimously, and hope to get swinging at the next meeting which is Feb. 19, so get out the pots and pans and let's strike up the band. Don't forget the bake sale! Feb. 17, Sunday, from 8:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. Firehouse, Co. I East Wonder Lake road. HAPPY BIRTHDAY Happy birthday to Billy Hartmann, youngest son of George and Jean Hartmann, who will be seven years old on Feb. 8. Have a happy seventh year, Bilk GIRL SCOUT NEWS Fourteen Junior Girl Scouts from Troop 416 in Wonder Lake spent last weekend enjoying a winter camping trip at Chapman Hills Camp in East Troy, Wis. For many of the girls, it was their first camping experience and their leaders, For Your Information CALL JOAN STULL DORIS ANDREAS 385-5418 385-4518 J Dear Friends Today it is not considered disrespectful for the bereaved to appear in public within a week or so after the funeral, or even sooner dressed as usual and engaging in the everyday activities of life. Out moded is the wearing of black exclusively for a period after a death in the family. We now realize that true mourning is a very personal and private matter which cannot be measured by outward symbols. s Respectfully, % WAl WtlCOMl J KNOW YOUR AREA-ROYAL WELCOME DOES IT BEST J PETER/W.JISTEN & SON FUNERAL HOME McHenry . I l l i no is 335-0063 Mrs. Nancy Berg, Mrs. Marian Eising and Mrs. Carrie Blaha, said the girls took to it like real Scout troopers: Among tne highlights of the trip were sledding down the popular Chapman Hills sled ding hill and a night- hike in which the girls tried un successfully to scare their leaders. The Cadette Scouts of Troop 420, Wonder Lake, completed a successful paper drive on Saturday, Feb. 2. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Harney helped the Troop organize the drive. Junior and Cadette Girl Scouts in Kachina Neigh borhood are preparing for the annual Girl Scout cookie sales campaign coming Feb. 6 through Feb. 20. The girls will be seeking support through cookie sales not only for their individual troops but for the area council. Funds earned will be used by the council to begin developing the new Woodstock property, recently purchased by the Sybaquay Girl Scout Council, into a camping area for local Scouts. Mrs. Donna Beyer, Neigh borhood cookie chairman, and her committee are organizing the coming sales. Serving on the committee as individual troop cookie chairmen are: Mrs.Dorothy Jacobson, Troop 416; Mrs. Mary Jean Huff, Troop 420; Mrs. Lucille Simp son, Troop 421; Mrs. Carolyn Stuart, Troop 499 and Mrs. Linda Winn, Troop 494. TENTH BIRTHDAY Congratulations to Billy Etten, son of Bill and Elaine Etten, who celebrates his tenth birthday on Feb. 11. FIRST TRAIN HIDE When the shiny, yellow, double decker train pulled out frorr^ the Woodstock depot last Friday on a round trip journey to Harvard, fifty-one kin dergarten students from Harrison school were among the passengers aboard. For many it was the very first time they had been on a train ride. The first hand experience in cluded seeing a rea-life con ductor, a chance to ride downstairs on the way to Harvard and upstairs on the way back to Woodstock, and jawbreakers to suck on while watching the countryside fly by. Their teacher, Mrs. Mavis Bagby, explained that the trip was arranged in conjunction with a transportation unit the children have been working on in school. Room mothers who accompanied the young travelers wererMarcia Nelson, Jean Michelsen, Joan Freund, Ann Eberle and Judy Lermer. Mrs. Linda Simon, who drove the children to Woodstock on the school bus, also went along for the train ride. LINCOLNS BIRTHDAY On Lincoln's birthday, Feb. 12, another Lincoln (Mr. Cook) will be celebrating his birthday by taking a day off from driving the school bus for the Harrison kids. Have a quiet day, Mr. Cook. SCOUT COOKIE SALES Remember, today, Feb. 6, is the first day of the Girl Scout cookie sales. Soon a little gal with a bright green Deret and a smiling face with a winning sales pitch will be knocking on your door and offering you a choice of butter flavored vanilla, assorted sandwich, peanut butter round-ups, cookie mints or fudge patties. Welcome her! FISH Once again, don't forget your FISH. If you need help, call FISH. If you can help, call FISH. The number is 728-0121.
