ANNIVERSARY OUTING In celebration of their an­ niversary, Jan. 30, Dave and Karen Scarbrough went out for dinner and to see a play. They went with Karen's mother, Mrs. Wanda Burruss, and friends, Mr. Redmond, Danny Ehrendt and Linda Rosky, to the playhouse in Summitt, 111. The play was "Don Quixote," which they all enjoyed very much. CHRISTENING Tara Ann Parks, 8 month old daughter of Marty and Karen Parks, was baptized Sunday, Feb. 3, at First United Methodist church, in McHenry. Godparents for Tara were grandpa and grandma, Mr. and Mrs. A. Kleinschmidt, of Chicago. Following the service, a family gathering was held at the Parks' home, in honor of the occasion. HAPPY ANNIVERSARY To Jim and Joan Bitterman, who celebrate another happy year of married life, Feb. 8. BEACH GALS Ladies, don't forget your hooks, Wednesday, Fdb. 6, for the Beach Gals meeting. Crochet hook, that is, size H. After the meeting, Gals will be given a demonstration, and lesson, in the art of crocheting. You can watch, or bring a crochet hook, and some 4 ply yarn (orlon) if you want to learn to crochet. New members are always welcome, or if any ladies want to come, just to-see what the meetings arl like, that's fine, too. It will be at 7:30 p.m., at the beach house. A FISH TALE Ice fishing has been great lately, according to some fishermen, here. They've been catching Northerns, some weighing up to 9 or 10 lbs., and 20 inches long. There's also been a big run on pan fish, in our lake. BIRTHDAYS - This week, Allan McKim and Maureen Caron share the same birthdate, Feb. 6. Leslie Walter has a birthday, Feb. 9, and so does Kari Ann Wyman, who'll be two years old. Feb. 10, is Susan Penny's birthday, and Freddie Groh celebrates his second birthday, Feb. 12. REMINDER Village board meeting, Tuesday, Feb. 12, 8 p.m. There will be only one board meeting per month. VQLLEYBALL The people who have been playing volleyball, Saturday nights, find it is an enjoyable night out, as well as a good form of exercise. And it is hoped that more people will attend. You don't have to be a pro, it's just for fun. The games, which start at about 7:30 p.m., are for persons, 18 and over. West Shore Beach Connie Schmidt 385-7841 Auxiliary Urges Ladies Attend Meeting Feb. 7 The ladies and property owners of West Shore Beach have the opportunity to attend two worthwhile meetings this week. On Thursday night, Feb. 7, the Women's Auxiliary urges any ladies of the community to join them at the home of Sylvia Wasicak around 7:30 p.m. This will be the first time free babysitting is available for the children of attending mothers. The club welcomes any age and would like to see some younger girls become members. Also this Saturday, Feb. 9, at 4:30 p.m. property owners have a chance to voice opinions and hear how decisions are determined. Meetings are always held the second Saturday of the month at 5412 Orchardway Drive. At this time dues may be paid or until the March l deadline. Please bring ideas for a community calendar of events for 1974. Exercise your voting power and help yourself by showing community concern. BANDSTUDENTS Parents of West Shore Beach having students attending Parkland School are invited to listen to the Feb. 13 band concert. The music starts at 7:30 p.m. for an enjoyable evening of your son's or daughter's talents. Par­ ticipation by mom and dad lets the kids know you are proud of thetn, too. t DID YOU SAVE? Contact Dolores Jaburek who gives these items to retirement homes for elderly people. Their uses for crafts is unlimited and necessary to make those lonely hours more tolerable. Please save. SUMMER IN FEBRUARY Our community is well aware of the existence of summer residences. Some of these people however do visit all winter long. Lately, Fred and Sue Sukupcak have been weekend visitors and have been enjoying a little country air. Both like to garden and keep their property looking neat and clean. All summer residents should periodically check their building for maintenance or burglary. Non-permanent residents v are certainly welcomed to the association meetings or the ladies club. PERSONALS Two big birthday wishes to Tony Wasicak who will celebrate his birthday on Feb. 7. Mrs. Radlein traveled to her brothers, the Valentine residence, in Lake Zurich with her sister, Mrs. Buchert, and her nephew, Bobby, from Antioch. All enjoyed dinner and cards. Dolores Jaburek and children, Dawn and Darin, held a birthday celebration at a smorgasbord in Dundee for Dawn who was 14 on Jan. 8. Get-well wishes to the many shut-ins in our community.
