Their daughter, Donna, of McHenry surprised them on the occasion. They also received a call from their other daughter, Mrs. Jo Hoak, who lives in Roselle, 111. Their son, John, resides at home. Dorothy Heilmann and John Weichmann were married Feb. 12, 1949, in the First Methodist church of McHenry, by the PIANO DUO Woodslock Fine Arts association's performing arts series featres duo-pianists, Paula and Michael Smith, assisted by the Woodstock Fine Arts chorale, with selections from Schubert, Brahms, Debussy and Stravinsky. For twenty years Mr. Weich­ mann was a member of the McHenry Police department, from which he retired as a sergeant a year and a half ago. The Rev. James Bidle of the First Congregational church in Crystal Lake, shared his ideas of New Insights; "Who Am I? Where Am I going?", with the fifty-four members present. The Rev. Bidle's explanation of the five steps to self- actualization was very enriching and motivated the listener to attempt to make things happen, not to just think about things to do. Marie Patton, Crystal Lake, president of Alpha Theta chapter, conducted the short business meeting. Mrs. June Stone, chairman of Personal Growth and Services, read a letter of gratitude from the Elgin State hospital for die Christmas gifts. Hostesses for the luncheon were Laura Rogers, chairman; Jean Handke, Helen Kedo, Maxine Kempf and Florence Knox, all of Crystal Lake. The next meeting will be held March 11 at West school in Crystal Lake. Each member is asked to bring a sample of her current avocation to display. The next meeting of the Senior Citizens club will be held Monday evening, * Feb. 27, at 7:30 p.m. at East Campus cafeteria, when the program will be presented by the McHenry Rescue squad. Members will show equipment and how it is used, and will give information as to the purpose and work of the squad. It is a program that will be of interest to all. On Monday evening, Feb. 11, there were 163 members in attendance when the meeting was called to order by President Kenneth Bowsher. He welcomed the members, stating he was happy to be the club president and was looking forward to a very enjoyable year with his fine corps of of­ ficers. Past president, Cyril Allen, then thanked the members and officers for their fine cooperation during his term of office. George Binder was welcomed back after an ab­ sence. He assured members he would again enjoy being the co- chairman of the tours. Instead of the past year's board receiving a big hand, they .received a standing ovation from the club membership which was very gratifying to those who had worked so hard. Binder reminded the members of the Flower show Wednesday, March 27, the bus to leave the McHenry State bank parking lot at 9:45 a.m. The price of the ticket covers the cost of the bus and the flower show admission. Reservations must be made promptly with Mrs. Frank Giel. Alf Heggeland reminded members of the Art classes on Tuesdays from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. at Landmark school, and the square dancing from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday evenings at Land­ mark school. Frank Giel reported that he has all the details taken care of for the annual bowling banquet in April at the Branded Steak house, Crystal Lake. Mrs. Alice Chermak, Program chairlady, has some very interesting programs planned for this year. The program for this meeting was extremely enjoyable. Bill Wilson, a club member, showed slides of the recent trip he and his wife, Yvonne, took through the state of Utah. It was a delightful program, and Wilson's narration was very informative. . After the program, refresh­ ments were served. The Valentine decorations were very lovely. They will be sent to the Pistakee Nursing home. West campus high school, McHenry; Kasey Anderson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Anderson of 1906 Grandview, McHenry, who attends Marian Central Catholic high school; and Ellen Gardner, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gardner of 4219 W. Solon road, Solon Mills, a student at Richmond high school. Kenna. The McHenry County college performances are scheduled for April 26, 27 and 28. The play's author, Arthur Thorsen, Crystal Lake, has been named director. Thorsen is a student of theatre at MCC. He will be assisted by Marjorie Johnson, student director. Actors include Ed Sobczinski, Cary, as Sopwith; Doug Dunham, Woodstock, as Derriberry; Jody Johnson, Crystal Lake as Mums- Georgette Braun, Hebron, as Ophelia; Carol Roese, Crystal Lake as Lady Cynthia; and Lisa Woodbury, Hebron, as Meg. GCUJJ £njoy± ram The Friendship club of the First United Methodist church , of McHenry, met for the monthly pot-luck dinner and meeting Saturday, Feb. 9 at 6 p.m., with forty-three members and one guest in attendance. The program for the evening was a most enjoyable film on the "20th Century Woman", which provoked many laughs from the group as many recalled the incidents, type of dress, and places depicted. Bertha and Elmer Stange were in charge of the program. Pastor Smith said < grace, after which everyone enjoyed a very delicious dinner. The meeting was called to order with words of welcome by President Elmer Stange, whib complimented the ladies on the very fine dihnet, and in­ troduced the guest, Mrs. Eleanor Simon. Cards were signed to be sent to Harry Lundy in the hospital and Ruth Young, who is coiv fined at home. Esther Sims' devotions were "God Understands and Loves Us." The group was saddened to learn of the death of Eva Eppel, a long time friend of many. He will be accompanied by his wife, Lorraine, and together they will minister to, and work among, the Indians. Their 16- year-old son, Randy, will be with them. -Because of government regulations, each missionary under the United Indian Missions must be ordained, or commissioned by his home church. Therefore, in - com­ pliance with this, such a commissioning service for the Andersons will take place Tuesday, Feb. 26 at 7:30 p.m., in the church sanctuary. A brief time of fellowship to honor them will follow. The Andersons have two other children who are at the Moody Bible institute, studying for full time Christian work. Laura, the eldest, is working for her Bachelor of Arts degree with aspirations of becoming a missionary in Asia. Douglas, a second year student, is preparing himself for the ministry. He's also a member of the Moody Men's Glee club which recently has toured in neighboring states. The Rev. Richard N. Wright, pastor of the church, invites all to come and meet with them in a farewell. This Tuesday program will take place of the regular mid-week service.
