P,*r.g g - PLAINDEALER - FRIDAY. MARCH 8,1974 First Income Tax Cheeks Mailed Out The first batch of 1973 state income tax refund checks will so into the mail beginning this week to 100,000 Illinois tax payers, Comptroller George W. Lindberg said this week. Since the income tax was instituted in August, 1969, printing of the checks has been done by the Department of Revenue, drawing on state funds held by a orivate bank. Lindberg said the take-over of the check-writing by the Comptroller this vear will mean an added $150,000 in interest earned by the State Treasurer on funds previously held by the bank to cover the refunds. In 1973 about 2.8 million {jfu<ê piart/rt(yflfend Q|||j The man who prays can hear the prayers of others . . . especially when he prays for those human needs which are common to all men. But even when he prays for needs that are solely his own, he knows that those who care for him are joining their prayers with his. And God's answers come back along the party line. You're never quite sure the message was meant for you. You are tempted sometimes to think it was intended for someone else . . . until you realize that this answer which God has inspired in your heart does fit your prayer. There are times when it's good for everybody on the party line to pick up the phone at once . . . and speak what they all feel . . . and listen to what they all need to hear. That happens regularly on Sunday morning. Sunday I Corinthians 3:16-23 Monday Matthew 5:38-48 Tuesday Psalms 41:1-3 Wednesday 1 Samuel 26:2-23 Thursday Luke 6:27-38 . Unless you feel prepared to find homes for all these kittens, it is wise to consider having her spayed. The ideal age for spaying is at about four or five months, before the first seasonal period. Neutering a male cat is a very simple operation and may be performed any time after the age of eight or nine months. A mature, unaltered torn has an almost uncontrollable desire to roam and fight, and his sanitary box will always have a strong odor. Males also develop the habit of spraying the wall or furniture and this is an almost impossible smell to deodorize. The altered cat's disposition will remain sweet, his playfulness will not be affected and he will not get fat and sluggish unless you coax him to overeat. McHenry Shores Mrs. Rose Lillegard 385-8500 OPEN RTA OFFICE - The RTA Citizens Committee for Better Transportation opened a campaign office in Crystal Lake Thur sday, Feb. 28, at 101 N. Main street, at 5 p.m. It will be the center for all RTA volunteer activities in McHenry county. This office, open from 9 a.m. untU 8 p.m. every day, was the eighth RTA office to be opened throughout the six-county metropolitan area. Trustees Go On Record Against RTA Proposition At the regular Board of Trustees meeting Feb. 28, the subject of RTA was discussed at great lengths. Board members had at their finger tips facts and figures as to the cost to the individual tax payer and the benefits that would be derived from the passage of the RTA bill as written. The village board of trustees went on record as opposing the RTA bill as written by passage of the following resolution: "As a village Board we oppose the RTA bill as written and recommend a no vote at the polls March 19, 1974". The resolution passed by a 6 to 0 vote. Other points of interest of the Board meeting showed bills being approved in the General Fund of $208.94; the police department received a salary increase effective March 1, and an hourly rate was established for our truck driver and one laborer and the revenue sharing was deferred to our next meeting. / The "Subdivision Ordinance" was presented to the Board for review and possible passage in the near future. In other business the village board gave approval to the Women's Club to use a portion of the village hall for their annual garage sale to be held May 2,3, and 4 and the women's bowling league may also use it for up to two meetings. The subject of the pier was once again brought to the at tention of the board and Mr. Hoffman suggested that possibly we could charge a nominal fee for pier users. The matter was turned over to Mr. Henderlong chairman of parks and public buildings. Mr. Henderlong is in need of members for his committee and would appreciate anyone interested to contact him at 385- 3214. This committee must be formed now so as to be ready for the boating season which is just around the corner. All of </) LU fen 0 1 .-J* , lii COMPARE before you buy. < (/> IT S A LIFETIME INVESTMENT.
