That's the day the young couple repeated their wedding vows in a lovely service at First Baptist church of McHenry. Lois' proud parents, Mr. and Mrs. Vernal Raiford, beamed with pride in their role as parents of the bride. A reception followed the 5 p.m. church service at the Johnsburg Community House with approximately 210 guests on hand to wish the couple much happiness. I was told everything was wonderful, the food was delicious and the music was enjoyable. Lois was assisted throughout the day by her maid of honor, Frances Davis, and by her bridesmaids, Barbara Mc- Donagh and Ester Hoven. Pretty little Linda Walinski was the flower girl for the happy couple. Donald Wilkening served his brother as best man. Groomsmen were Allan Raiford and Robert Redding. Dennis Wilkening and Richard Pierce served as ushers and Scott Raiford was ring-bearer. Among the many guests who enjoyed the day's festivities were Lakeland Park residents: Mrs. Willie Meyers (great-aunt of the bride), Richard and Beverly Walinski (parents of the flower girl), Mr. and Mrs. Sullivan and their family, Frances Kostka, Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Viita and family, John and Autry Harper, Joe and Gladys McHale, and Steve and Melinda Dolloff. It was surely an occasion that won't soon be forgotten as I was told everyone had a marvelous time. I was unable to contact Mr. Kupstis for a little background information about him and was able to do so this week. Mr. Kupstis, who is 28 years old, has been a resident «rf the area for approximately 16 years. He and his wife, Sandy, have been residing in Lakeland Park for the past eighteen months. They are parents of two small girls, four-year-old Jennifer and three-year-old Catherine. Mr. Kupstis has been employed in McHenry for the past seven years and prior to that he was stationed with the United States Air Force in Germany. He is, of course, a member in good standing of the Lakeland0 Park Property Owners Association. Three board members are to be elected from the slate of nominees at the annual general meeting of the Lakeland Park Property Owners Association. The meeting will be held March 31 at 2 p.m. in the Community house, 1717 N. Sunset Drive. Do plan to attend this meeting and cast your votes! . SURPRISE HOUSEWARMING! Harlan and Ruth Ernst went out to dinner last Saturday night and returned home to find their beautiful new house filled with company! Ruth's mom, Ruth McMahon, and Ruth's sister, Linda Kraeplin, and her husband, Ralph, along with friends, John and Joanne Reaflnger, arranged the sur­ prise party for the happy couple. I also heard John served as a great bartender! Approximately twenty-five guests were there to see the new home on Shorehill Drive and to extend their happiness to Harlan and Ruth. Some of the people who shared the happy couple's excitement included: Joanne's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harland Moon, Curt and Maria Bremer, Ray and Sharon Fischer, William Moser, Barb Hunter, Joyce Kotyza and her daughters, Patricia and Denise. Everyone had a most en­ joyable evening and I heard the food was delicious and the beverages tasty! And, the couple received many beautiful housewarming gifts. Phyllis Hintz and her son, Richard, recently returned from a restful three-week trip to sunny Florida, they visited with Phyllis' brother, Glen Beard, and his family who have their home near Clearwater. They also visited with Mr. and Mrs. Lorenz, former Lakeland Park residents, and Mr. and Mrs. CaUldwell, formerly of Whispering Oaks. They did manage to visit Disney - World and had a marvelous time. The rest of the trip was spent relaxing and beach combing! Phyllis said they enjoyed all their leisure time allowed them on their sunny vacation! FOLKS VISIT Ed and Kay Druml enjoyed their day with Kay's parents recently. Rose and Ed Oswald spent the day of conversation and relaxation when they journeyed to our town from Decatur. Larry and Mary Alice Sword exchanged their wedding vows eleven years ago in Wonder Lake. They moved to Lakeland Park ten years ago and are parents of three sons. Todd is ten-years-old, Scott is nine- years-old and Mark is four- years old. Larry is employed as a truck driver and Mary Alice is a busy wife and mother. When she has spare time Mary Alice does enjoy bowling. Family ac­ tivities include snowmobiling in the winter months and boating in the summer time. PRIMARY ELECTION! It's been a great help but I'm sometimes reminded that people have moved or, in fact, have passed on.
