It's only one of the life- size figures this artist, sculp­ tress and writer has created from paper mache. Among the figures she recently created is a construction worker. Done in BETTY ROSSMAN SERVES IAR - Betty Rossman, broker for Gateway Associates, Inc., Realtors, of Crystal Lake and McHenry, is currently serving her fourth year on the Education com­ mittee of the Illinois Association of Realtors. Many goals have beep set for the 1974 Education committee. One that is of urgent concern to all is getting the new H.B. 707 (new state licensing law) to all realtor members and com­ plete interpretation of the requirements for new licen­ sing. Mrs. Rossman is also currently serving as coipmittee chairman of the Education committee, having been ap­ pointed by Board President Elmer Graham. A professional member of American Society of Artists, Miss Odmark recently exhibited with the society in the Fall Festival of Arts and Crafts in Crystal Lake. Articles written and illustrated by Miss Odmark have appeared in metropolitan newspapers. She attended the Art Institute of Chicago and Merrill Art Studios. Lady Meter Reader Bitten At Local Home A lady meter reader for Commonwealth Edison was taken to McHenry hospital after she was bitten by a German Shepherd dog at the Raymond Ladouceur home at 5509 W. Cleveland drive, McHenry, last Thursday af­ ternoon. Phyllis Tipperreiter of 2025 W. Sunnyside Beach drive, McHenry, was bitten on the right forearm and right leg by one of two German Shepherd dogs in the yard. Ms. Tip­ perreiter had entered the fenced yard through a gate when one of the animals came around the house and bit her as she was attempting to read the electric meter. A passerby heard her calling for help and notified the sheriff's office. The matter was referred to the county veterinarian's office. The best way out seems to be through. Experience is a dead loss, unless you can gain from it more than it cost. Michelle Joins Jacques Family In Arkansas A big surprise to the friends &nd relatives in the area was the announcement of a new little baby girl born to Peg (Betts) and Ron Jacques of Gasville, Ark. Little Michelle was born on Saturday, March 2. She weighed in at 8 lbs., and was 20 inches long at birth. Grandparents are Mrs. Lillie Jacques of Fox River Grove, and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Betts of •Gasville, Ark. Little Michelle is honored by having two great- grandmothers, who are Mrs. Anne Betts in Ringwood and Mrg. Bertha Schmitt in McHenry. SURPRISE VISITORS Shirley and Andy Raemaker of Eagle Grove, Iowa, made a surprize visit in the Walt Low home on Sunday evening. Shirley and Andy came to McHenry for their niece's wedding on Saturday but spent a lot of time visiting and seeing old friends and acquaintances whenever they found a spare minute. They stayed in the home of Ester and Earl Tessendorf of McHenry. A good visit was had by the four and Andy and Shirley asked about different ones they didn't have time to see and they send their wishes via us. McLAKEWOOD 4-H CLUB The McLakeWood 4-H Club held its regular monthly meeting last Sunday evening in the home of Mr. and Mrs.Ben Jacobs, Sr. The meeting was called to order by President Cindy McDonald. Ben Jacobs, Jr., presented the idea of a roller skating party and the club voted in favor of a skating party to be held Thursday evening, March 28 at 7 p.m. at the roller rink in McHenry. Talks were given by David Christopher, "Using Your Eyes"; Ann Rich, "Reducing Rodent Damage Through Use of Owls"; Danielle Byron, "Incubating Eggs". A discussion was held on the Share-the-Fun contest to be held March 15 and 16 at the Woodstock high school. Meeting adjourned. The recreation time was spent rehearsing Share-the- Fun skit. Mr. and Mrs. Byron were recognized for their leadership of the club and presented with a small gift in appreciation. Refreshments were served. Peter Bender, Reporter BABY SHOWER A surprize baby shower was given in the honor of Darlene Lehmkuhl in the home of Pattie Miller on Monday evening of this week. Darlene, who is expecting within the next couple of weeks, was very much surprized and pleased with the gathering of friends and neighbors for this occasion. •Just to let you know we are thinking of you, Dar.' They said. She received several nice and thoughtful gifts for the new little one. Punch, coffee and cake were served, oh those calories! HERE AND THERE Larry Cristy and his fiancee, Diane Gilbert, spent last weekend with his parents, the William Cristys. On Saturday, they attended the wedding of Mary Lou Miller and Alan Grotewold in McHenry. Mr. and Mrs. Mark Ringelstetter of Columbus, Wis., were Sunday visitors at the Brennan-Hepburn home. Other weekend visitors were Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Brennan and children, Wayne and Wendy, of Oak Lawn. Fred Schroeder of Crystal Lake was also a recent caller. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Bork of Chicago and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Betts spent Saturday and Sunday in Champaign with their children Debbie (Betts) and Bill Bork. They had a real good visit with Sunday dinner being prepared by Deb for her mom and Dad and Bill's Mom and Dad. BIRTHDAYS Happy birthday this week goes to Kimberly Neal and John Shmacls, Sr., on March 12. March 14 brings another double Donna (Low) Meyer and Susan (Fossum) Thornton; Also Gary Harrison on March 15. OK? IN CONCERT Stan Kenton and his or­ chestra will be appearing in concert Tuesday, April 30, 8 p.m. at the Crystal Lake Community high school fieldhouse. Kenton, a name familiar to dancers and con­ cert-goers for over two decades, is being sponsored by the Marching Tiger Bahd Boosters of Crystal Lake. An Pa<& 452 held its seventeenth annual Blue and Gold banquet in Waukegan. At 1 p.m. the festivities started with the flag ceremony by Webeloes Den 3 and then an opening given by the Cubmaster, Glen Neuman. The buffet dinner was enjoyedI by all. After dinner the guest speaker, Sergeant Meyers from the McHenry County Sheriff department, gave an enlightening talk and reminded all that the police force is not like Adam 12 (on T.V.), but wish to be thought of as Barney Fife. All present joined in to sing "Teach the World to Sing", led by Thomas Morin, and then business was taken care of by Glen Neuman, cubmaster and Tom Kusmerz, advancement chairman in giving out both adult and Scout awards. A few of the Cub Scouts participated in a skit depicting an operation on a boy on how and what it takes t<? become a good Cub Scout. During the afternoon honored guests present, Jim Boelens, Mrs. Mary Jane Boelens and Bill Selof, were recognized as past leaders for a job well done. As an added treat, Kenneth Blocker, a new member of Cub Pack 452, en­ tertained the excited Cub Scouts and parents with magic tricks, using the disguise of a clown. With joined hands, all took part in the Scoutmaster benediction led by the proud leaders. Cub Pack 452 collects newspaper and on March 16 will be having a paper drive. All those who wish to get rid of their papers and help a worthy organization should call 497- 3469.
