Mr. Henderlong explained to the Board of Trustees the federal granting for sewage study program. Apparently under the new federal guidelines, a municipality would not be able to collect federal funding for a sewage study program unless a federal grant was secured first. In order to receive a federal grant it is apparent that the priority list could delay the study for three years. Federal granting would pay up to 75 percent of the cost of the study. Mrs. Lillegard is to contact the village engineers to draw up the necessary contract for the initial study program and 44 FROM UCfll ||0" the i*aH Ur „ 1408 N. Riverside Drive COMPLETE BARBERING & STYLING FOR MEN AND BOYS Call for an appointment '385-8373 request the engineer for the next village board meeting scheduled for April li. Other business before the board consisted of a proposed ordinance, yet to be drawn up, that would spell out the procedure to be used for garbage pickup and the type of container to be used. Road Commissioner Zeimet reported that work would begin on the roads as the rented equipment is presently in the village limits. One culvert had already been installed at Stillhill and Hilltop. The culvert at Beach and Riverside Drives had also been lowered to correct the water flow. * A letter of appreciation written by Mr. Szerszen and directed to the road commissioner was read by the village clerk. Open burning - was also discussed and Fire Chief Petersen would be contacted to address the village board at their next meeting. The main pier was estimated at costing $150 to repair with labor being donated. Also the possibilities of building a new raft pending the investigation of the insurance. Hie fee for cutting empty lots was raised by $4 per year to cover the cost of increased expenses. , The Revenue Sharing funds were allocated toward the purchase of a village hall and for land acquisition. The necessary legal form for Revenue Sharing can be found printed elsewhere in today's paper. Clerk Lillegard submitted a request from the social club committee that the proposed teenage group be allowed to meet at the village hall under the supervision of the social club. It was voted on and passed by a vote of 5 Yes, 0 Nays and 1 absent to allow the teenage group to meet at the village hall under the proper supervision providing the insurance coverage is valid. The meeting adjourned at 10:05 p.m. TEENAGE GOOD DEED Needless to say, we can all see what the winter weather and spring winds have done to our area. There is paper blown in the vacant lots, debris spread out all over and just plain carelessness on the part of the adult human race. Monday morning I was informed that there were six to eight children, who took it upon themselves to collect some of this debris. I have not been able to find out the names of all the children but I do know of three and our heartwarmest thanks go to David Ewald, Wood Bohart and Gini Frett. If someone knows the identity of the other children, I would certainly appreciate it if you would call me and let me know. I feel that they deserve to be publicly thanked. The children of this community we can be well proud of. In this day and age, children look up to their parents and to all adults for guidance and examples. It would seem to me, that throwing bed springs and empty bottles at the road side or in empty lots is not much of an example to look up to. Let's all be a little more conscious as to the appearance of our community. I cJoi)dStolis Jewel does more than yowl expect MMC«S f HCCTIVE. UNliSS OTHIRWISI INDICATED. NEED NEWS My ambition is to someday have so much news that we would have a complete page in the newspaper but the way news is being called in, I doubt if I will ever see my ambition come true. Now I know that we have band players who have qualified for the state competition, and Scouts who are always doing something, and outings attended by our children. Why not let me know. Until next week, drive safely and remember the 55 speed limit in the state of Illinois. Holiday Hills Karen Kottke 385-6675 Need Donors For Establishment Of Blood Bank In recent months an effort has been made to establish a blood bank in McHenry County. As we all know; the demand for blood is tremendous. The blood donation plan has many attractive benefits. Some of these benefits are replacement provided for whole blood, red blood cells, platelets, cryoprecipitate and plasma components. These benefits are extended to the donor and his family for one year after the blood donation is made. All that is asked of you is a few minutes of your time and a pint of blood. Donations for blood may be made at either McHenry or Woodstock hospitals. The program dates at McHenry hospital are every other fuesday starting April 16. Woodstock hospital has their blood bank open every other Wednesday starting April 17. If you wish more information call Mrs. Helen Baines at (312) 892-7055 or McHenry Hospital 385-1050 ext. 266. AROUND IN BUSINESS Bill De Witt just returned from a business trip which took him to New York, Greece and London. Bill had a chance to spend a few days with his and Mimi's family in New York before continuing his trek to Europe. Being a world traveler, in his case, is not as attractive as it sounds, as most of his time was spent at business meetings. BIRTHDAYSAND ANNIVERSARIES Birthday greetings to Dale Lonergan, Nancy Foreman, Marcia Ledford and Richard Schaefer on April 9; and to Tom Dougherty and Scott Wilson on April li. Happy anniversary wishes to Sara and Ken Farman on their special day, April 6; to Midge and Don Teuber on their special day April 7. Indians living in what is now New York and Maine are known to have made journeys as far away as into what is now Wyoming and Montana, and often brought back souvenirs - bits of mica, volcanic glass, grizzly bear's teeth and claws, plus yarns about the scenery. Come in and browse, you'll get ideas for furnishing your bath and discover many charming gifts. 3012 W.
