"He claims to be the son of God"... ...and Jesus stood there, tall and proud He did not speak, in his own defense, not one single word.... So, they ripped off His garment ... which His mother had woven, once for Him. They pressed a stick into His hand.... How shameful He stood there, carrying our sin A crown, of thorns, was set on His head and they bowed their knees, with ironical smiles. They began to spit in His holy face.... Greeting: "Hail, King of the Jews, hail". Hour after hour passed by and He stood there... being spit at, laughed at and even beat... There was no one in that big crowd, who did care... No one came to His aid, in that early afternoon heat. How would we have acted on that dreadful day? Would we also stay just silent in the crowd? Would we also spit at Him, or may^e walk away? Or would we be able to speak up for Him and shout? "This is Jesus, the only son of God... Who brings us peace in our day... Who opens heaven again, for us... and who taught us, all, how to pray..." But would we really have enough courage to say these words, to the world outside? Maybe they would laugh at us, call us mad. Maybe it would be easier to run away and hide. We, the people, of the twentieth century have no right to condemn the people, the Jews. Yes, they did scream, "Crucify Him"... but we are not much better... we all walk still in their shoes ... Christ died for us, in that far away land He gave His life, for you and me... That we may live in Peace, with God and Man., and that our heart and soul, can orice again be free.... by Maria Heiser OFFER NEW BILL Congressman John B. Shown above presenting the Easter Egg mini-gardens their troop made for the patients' food trays are, left to right, Robin Irwin and Jana Williams. Michele Werner, R.N., and Trey Rasmussen, III, Crystal Lake, a patient, accept on behalf of all the patients who will be hospitalized in McHenry over the holiday.
