And the good news - the reason Jor not holding it in April was to provide additional time to put together a more professionally run horse show which wili be held May 26, or rain date of June 2, starting at 8:30 a.m. at the Spring Grove Horse Fairgrounds located in Spring Grove, behind the elementary school. • The Saddle Club Horse Show committee has put together a show featuring a popular and respected judge, Toni Tallin from Triple T Training Stables, in Laingsburg, Mich. She is an extremely well qualified judge - - one of the most sought after for all types of shows from 4-H, Associations to County Fairs. The Saddle Club feels that by having a judge from out of stale impartiality will be assured. HIGH POINT TROPH1E8 j will be classes for ponies in performance, both Western and English, Jumping and Speed. The only two classes they will share with the horses will be trail and reining. In effect, ponies could be used in no less than sixteen classes with eleven of them being exclusively their. Nineteen classes have been provided for the horses. Mom and Dad haven't been forgotten with a performance class for the twenty-five and over and a plug race also provided for the twenty-five and over - ponies or horses allowed. A reining class using the new No. 1 pattern has been put in towards the middle of the afternoon so that those who like to rein only have an opportunity to perhaps attend our show following another one. In addition to all of this, there is a walk-trot class for the 8 years and under age group and a novice class, English or Western for either a approximately 10 to 10:30 and the English performance classes would run from approximately 10:30 to 12:30. A half hour lunch break will be taken and after lunch it is hoped the speed events can be started about 1. Trail class will be available from 10 to 2 as it will be held outside of the ring and multiple judging will be used on this event. With the membership growing steadily and a successful winter dance behind them and the spring horse show and a trail ride just ahead of them, the club is looking forward to making new friends and new members to participate in the coming events for this summer. Mmois By Dick Rabbitt The McHenry High Frosh- Soph track team won an easy triangular meet over Mundelein and Antioch last Thursday. The young Warrior's had 88 points to Antioch's 64, and Mundelein took last with 25 points. Brian Nuss won the 120 yd. high hurdles and 330 yd. low hurdles. Brett Decker won both the shot and discus. Greg Thornton won the 440 yd. dash. Scott Freund won the pole vault, and Jerry Pepping won both the mile and 2 mile runs. McHenry also won the 440, 880 and mile relays. run 3rd inning, and they went on to defeat the locals 9 to 7. Billy Rowe was the starting and losing pitcher. Tony Christy pitched 2 scoreless innings in relief. In the second game a 4 run first inning for McHenry paved the way for a 13 to 5 win over Lake Forest. Ron Himplemann scattered five hits in going the route for the win. Jeff Damiani and Tommy Ludwig each had a home run. Ludwig also had a double and a single. ( Gary Fairchild, former MCHS star under Coach Bill Day, has signed with the St. Louis Cardinals as a free agent after attending the try out camp. The Plaindealer sports section has given interested readers reports from time to time on Gary's progress during his four years at Augustana College where he made his mark as a tight end. In his senior year, Gary snared 25 passes good for 377 yeards and set a school record of 113 receptions during his college career.
