(STAFF PHOTO-WAYNE GAYLORD) Spring Grove Eva Freund 675-2135 Undo Lee Hansen Honored Guest At Nuptial Shower Mrs. William Kruger, Jr., 7618 Carleton drive, was hostess at a wedding shower given in honor of her niece, Linda Lee Hansen. She was pleasantly surprised when a group of relatives anf friends gathered at the. town hall on Sunday afternoon, April 7. Forty-one guests were present and all admired the newly remodelled hall as well as the decorations of pink and white streamers and bells, also a flowery umbrella on the gift table. Games were played and prizes given the winners. A buffet lunch which included a decorated cake was served. The guest of honor was the happy recipient of many beautiful and useful gifts. Her bridesmaids were present to assist her. Wedding plans are for May 11 when Miss Hansen will become the bride of Mike Michaelson. Guests were present from Chicago and suburban areas. FALSE ALARM The fire alarm at Spring Grove school was accidentally set off on April 9. Alertness on the part of the teachers and the speedy response of the children made it possible for everyone to be evacuated from the building in one and one half minutes. It was a false alarm but the staff is to be commended on the handling of such an emergency. P.T.O. Cal Skinner, Jr.'s Crystal Lake Plaza office last Thursday with $150 for the fight against RTA. DeHaan explained that he wanted to do what he could to keep McHenry county out of the Regional Transportation Authority district and he thought collecting funds to help with the recount efforts from his neighbors was something he could do. The contributions ranged from $1 to $5 and came froiri fifty-eight Alden area residents after a door to door canvass by DeHaan. "This is the type of response from citizens that we need if we are to stand a chance of learning whether the RTA referendum even passed honestly," Rep. Skinner pointed out. "This battle is going to be very expensive, but it's one that Appetizing Appetiser Cubes or slices of roast beef make popular appetizers. Simply serve a tasty dip such as horse radish or blue cheese with the cubes. Or spread the slices with the dip, roll up jelly roll fashion and secure with small wooden picks. Spaying and neutering pets should help reduce the problem of surplus cats and dogs, but surgery alone is not enough. Unowned animals are a major part of the problem. In addition to creating a public nuisance and possible health hazard, stray dogs and cats give birth to unwanted pups and kittens at an alarming rate. Many communities have tremendously reduced or nearly eliminated their unwanted animal population simply by enforcing existing animal control regulations. has to be fought," Skinner said. "I hope residents of larger towns will follow Alden's example." Others have come to grips with the problem by passing more stringent laws and enforcing them rigidly. As a concerned citizen, you should do everything you can to see that leash laws and other animal control regulations in your area are up to date and adequately enforced. And, as a responsible pet owner, you should make sure your pet "does not" contribute to the problem.
