OPEN HOUSE MEETING The Beach Gals were pleased to welcome eighteen guests to their open house membership meeting, April 24. Among those who attended were Ladies of the Lake members, Rose Gutt, Barb Reiter, Theresa Schultz and Jacqueline Todd. Also present were Joan Bitterman, Ginny Xranklin, Marilyn Gollan, Gloria Grimm, Lil Hansen, Mary Ellen Johnson, VylillO iittnovii. President Karen Parks gave a brief summary of what the Beach Gals have accomplished, and some of their plans for the future. The Beach Gals next ^regular meeting is Wednesday, May I, 7:30 p.m., and they hope to see many of these ladies attend, as members of the group. GET-WELL A speedy recovery is wished for John Mass, who suffered second degree burns last week when he was scalded with hot water. Mrs. Theresa Schultz was taken to McHenry hospital by the rescue squad after an accident April 25. She had been getting out of her car, when it began to roll, causing her to lose her balance and fall. Mrs. Schultz, who spent a few days in the hospital, sustained a broken collar bone, but is otherwise in good condition. MINI VACATION Mr. and Mrs. Ben Gates had a nice change of scenery, when they took a weekend trip to Minneapolis, Minn., recently. They traveled by train, relaxing, and enjoying the service. The time in Minneapolis was spent, mostly sightseeing. The Gates returned home on Sunday, rested and ready for back to normal routine. LAKE WATER CHECKED Members of the 180th Preventing Medicine Army Reserve Unit specializing in marine biology were at our beach, April 20. They went into the water to try to locate any snail beds of the type which have caused "swimmers itch" in recent years. Findings will be reported to the conservation club, and if infestation Is present, treatment will begin as soon as possible, to get rid of tne pruoiein. BALL FIELD RENOVATION Most of the work on the ball field has been completed, including raising the infield and spreading new dirt on the outfield. Also, drain tiles were installed along the third base line to eliminate muddy conditions which were a big problem in the past. Scheduled to be done shortly is the installation of a new protective fence. Much thanks is due residents who donated their time to do the work, thus making the improvements possible with the amount of money available from baseball league funds.
