WEST CAMPUS SWING CHOIR POPSCONCERT Pop, rock, swing, jazz and George Gershwin will provide the theme for the sixth annual "pops" concert at West campus this Saturday and Sunday nights, May 11 and 12, in the West Campus cafeteria at 8 p.m. Featured will be the West campus swing choir, a new addition to the popular concert this year. This group of junior and senior musicians were part of the winning team at West /kho placed third in the Illinois High School association Area I music contest this spring. The group will perform such selections as "I Found Love", "Little Old Lady in Tennis Shoes", "Alexander's Ragtime Band", and "Hey, Look Me Over". This year is George Gershwin's seventy-fifth year, some of this best known music, "Rhapsody in Blue", "Strike Up the Band", "Wintergreen For President", "Embraceable You", "Liza", "Man I Love", "Clap Yo' Hands", and "I Got Rhythm" will be performed by the various groups at West. The girls' chorus will perform "Happiness Is", "Bless the Beasts", "Never My Love", and "I Am Woman". The select chorus will perform "The Night they Drove Old Dixie Down", "One By One, People Come, Sing Together" and "Blessed Miracles", and will join with the girls' chorus on such popular selections as "Emer the Young", "Tavern of Loving People", "Speak Softly Love" ("Godfather" theme) and a musical version of "The Pledge of Allegiance". - The West campus stage band will coordinate the entire show, and also perform "Hot Enough", "Saturday's Child", "Stout Blooze", and two Stan Kenton selections entitled "Malaga", and "A Little Minor Booze". There will be a special potpourri section where individuals and small groups will perform. The master of ceremonies will be Paul Zimny. In conjunction with the concert, the Art club will display various pieces of art work for viewing and purchasing. There is a small admission fee. Aszman, 72, 4708 Oakwood drive, McHenry, died Tuesday, May 7, at Sunset Manor nursing home, Wooodstock. She was born May 13, 1901, in Chicago, the daughter of Caroline Fugman Shilvock and the late Albert Shilvock. In December 1946 she married Charles Aszman who passed away in 1953. She was a retired supervisor for Kraft Food Co., Chicago. She was a member of the Christian Science church in Downers Grove. Besides her mother she is survived by a brother, Donald T. Wilmot road, McHenry, discovered that her home had been entered and several checks were taken from a checkbook after the bank called and reported that a youth had been in the bank and attempted to cash one of them.
