On Mother's day the high winds collapsed a large garage undo* construction by Sven Enarson. The structure was moved off balance by a sudden gust and now there remains only the shingled roof upon the concrete base. In addition, the water level at the beach front has submerged moored boats and covered most of the sandy area. A huge gully has eroded in the center of the beach and much sand has been taken into the water. Residents have been experiencing flooded lawns and houses. The unusually rapid saturation of rain has been the major cause of the trouble. Low lying areas particularly are sponge-like and surface water is seeking somewhere to go. EPITAPH FOR A SUBDIVISION - The following is an article anonymously mailed to me by one of our residents wishing to express some thoughts about this subdivision. Here lies a rare breed of people: Perished from lack of interest and profound boredom. It is becoming more apparent with the passing of each month that the people who live in the subdivision are not concerned about its future. I am not saying that ALL the people fit into this category, however, the majority do. I base this observation oh fact not fiction. There is a monthly Association meeting. Where are you? The month of May produced only six members. This small number cannot resolve all the problems that exist in the subdivision. But aside from this the real problem seems to be lack of interest. Let's examine this just a bit further. What was April's attendance? Ten? March? Nine? Are you getting the message. I'm assuming you are not interested in road repair, beach clean-up, weed and pet control, garbage, snow plowing, adult social activities, children's activities and the column in the Plaindealer. Are you still not getting the message. Or perhaps your face is showing a bit of pink. Is it shame? Because it couldn't be anger. Besides who cares. And if you do care, what is the next step. Well people this is not a difficult question to answer. Attendance is one way to solve problems. Arbitration is another. Remember you need not be a paying member or a year round resident to have your viewpoint heard. The association's primary % concern is all residents not just a few. Don't phone your neighbor, attend the meeting. Your complaints are just as important as your compliments. Don't let a beautiful place such as this subdivision become just another forgotten slum ghetto. Unless the epitaph is true!
