BLUE STAR MEMORIAL The Crystal Lake Garden club, a charter member of the State federation, is celebrating its fiftieth anniversary as a club this year. As part of the celebration they have erected a Blue Star marker in McCormick park, on Route 14 in Crystal Lake. The Blue Star memorial is "a tribute to the Armed Forces that have defended or now defend our country". The dedication will be held May 30 at 2:30 p.m. in the park. As a National Garden club project, one can see Blue Star markers in any State and there are thirty-six in Illinois. The public is cordially invited to attend the short dedication ceremony. The urge to merge seems to be stronger during the spring. NECK UP1 MM. Qfltfffenry C^PlalnJi \er 3812 West Elm Street Established 1875 Phone 385-0170 McHenry. THANKS Chuck Gene. On behalf of the American Legion Post 491, its present baseball team and future teams, I would like to express our gratitude to Jerome, Chuck and Gene Miller of Lakeland Construction and McHenry Sand & Gravel. Having been involved with the McHenry Shamrock and American Legion baseball teams for many years, I have first hand knowledge of the many generous contributions they have made in the form of advice, work, equipment, materials and money. I also have knowledge of many community contributions these fine people have made to the McHenry area. Chuck, Jerome and Gene have added to their long list of community contributions recently by donating earth, men and equip ment to Post 491'S new baseball field. Since there seldon is any public recognition and a simple thank-you seems so inadequate, I feel compelled to publicly thank them. I know I echo the sentiments of many people in McHenry whose lives have touched yours when I say your presence has made McHenry a better place in which to live.
