Ringwood News (653-9008) (653-9262) (728-0295) Inner City 4-H Club' Visits Local Farm It was a most rewarding day for theBen Jacobs family when they recently entertained fifty two 4-H club members from the Inner City witn their Extension Youth Advisor, Enid Gerst, and ten ehaperones. The boys and girls, ages 11 through 16, were taken by bus on a tour of Northern Pump Farms. For many of them, it was the first time they had ever seen live farm animals. George Young, McHenry County Farm Advisor, and his wife and daughter joined the group and Mr. Young spoke briefly to the young folks. Some of the McLakeWood 4-H Club members brought their animal projects to show the guests. JoAnne Gillespie gave them all rides on her horse and Danielle Byron brought her dog "Little Fox" to demonstrate dog obedience. Perhaps the most memorable part of the day for the young people was the opportunity to hold and pet animals, including rabbits, chickens, cats, dog, a horse and her colt. The visitors were served lunch by Mr. and Mrs. Jacobs, Ben, Jr., and Lora CHARIVARI It all started out as a quiet evening when Art and Katy Christopher accepted an invitation to spend last Tuesday night with Gary and Peggy Tickner. Less than an hour after they arrived at Tickners, a procession of cars drove into the yard with horns blaring and metal clanging on metal. It was the folks from Northern Pump Farms coming to Charivari Art and Katy on their silver wedding anniversary. It was a most enjoyable evening and one of complete surprise. Patty and David Christopher were in on the surprise and it was big relief to them when their folks finally left the house that evening without their revealing the secret. GRADUATION OPEN HOUSE Seventy-five guests attended the open-house given by Mr. and Mrs. Joe Steinmetz for their daughter, Debbie, recently graduated from Richmond-Burton high school. AMong those attending wer Debbie's grandmothers, Mrs. Lorene Brand of Sauk City, Wis., and Mrs. Ada Steinmetz of Baraboo. An aunt, Mrs. Irene Keasier from Sauk City, was also present. ' ^AUSTIN-HUFF NUPTIALS The Charles Brennan home was the setting last Saturday evening for a lovely ceremony,. uniting in marriage Mrs. Shirley Austin of Salem, Wis., and Mervin Huff of Richmond. Rev. Ruth Wegner, pastor of the Ringwood United Methodist church, officiated at the ceremony with Delores and Charles Brennan serving as matron of honor and best man. The bride's children, Dawn, Tommy and Angel Austin and Cliff Hammerstrom of Genoa City were present. Dawn Austin furnished organ music Including "Because" and "I Love You Truly." Spring flowers decorated the living room and Lil Visconti took pictures to record the happy occasion. WESTERN TRAVELERS Richard, Phyllis and son David Zell have been traveling throughout the western states the past four weeks. They traveled the southern route out to California stopping off to see the Carlsbad Caverns (well worth stopping to see they said), then on to California to see Disney World and Marineland. Then on up the coast to San Francisco which they thought was fantastic, in fact they thought the coastline was beautiful. They visited the Flaming Forest (which is not as famous or well known as the Petrified Forest) but they thought was just as nice as the Petrified Forest. They visited the Painted Dessert and the Grand Canyon which they just couldn't believe the sight. Also a stop in Las Vegas was in order but didn't do a thing to thrill either Phyllis or Dick. Then on home and as they traveled through Iowa they were amazed as that storm of 8 inches of rain in 24 hours was the first rain they had seen throughout their whole trip., Here we were almost drowning. We ask David (who is only 4) what all he saw and his answer was OH just everything. Sounds like he did too, just hope he will be able to remember everything, but in case he doesn't he will remember enough to want to see it all again sometime in the future. We should all see our own country first. CAMPERS Well guess ifs enough that the campers can really get started camping in earnest now. Hear that the Paul Walkingtons and son, Lee, went camping up near Spooner, Wis., for the Week-end. We heard that there were bears in that part of the country but guess they didn't bother them, and they had a wonderful we'ek-end weather wise and just relaxing. Other campers we know who finally got out on their first camp-out was Walt and Doris Low. They went up in the Lodi, Wis., area and had a ball. Doris's nose looks red (from the sun she says???) The Lows then had breakfast on Sunday morning with the Grahams and the Thelens, and arrived home weary on Monday evening. SOUTH DAKOTA VISITORS Lloyd and Helen Barker and daughter, Nancy, and Helen's mom, Bessie Galvin of Assumption, 111, visited with relatives in Pierre, S.D. They visited all of the sights in the area and were especially escorted around a Buffalo ranch. Helen's mom's cousin lives next door to this large Buffalo ranch and so they got a guided tour. This fellow raises Buffalo for commercial use in restaurants and Buffalo meat shops. They had over 2,000 head of Buffalo at the time they visited the ranch. BIRTHDAYS The birthdays keep on even tho we think maybe they shouldn't but its lots of fun to keep on wishing people HAPPY BIRTHDAY. SOOO on June 3rd we wish Wendy BrUce and Larry Lehmkuhl a very Happy day.
