It's a-erushing experience to get caught. But it can teach us a vital lesson. We soon discover a sense of responsibility and learn our obligation to others. Our true identity emerges. The Church stands ready to help us learn responsibility. Through religious education youth today can still discover personal identity--while gaining a res ponsible view of man's obligations to God and to society. June 21,1974) Big Hollow Students In Active Week Even though school is out and summer vacation well under way, students at Big Hollow spent most of last week traveling. On Monday and Tuesday, forty-nine graduates toured the state Capital in Springfield. The group visited many historic buildings in the Springfield area. The group also visited New Salem village and Abraham Lincoln's tomb. The Big Hollow students and their chapferones also visited the Illinois House of Representatives and Senate Chamber. On Thursday and Friday, both seventh and eighth grade students, about fifty in all, toured the Wisconsin Dells and Cave of the Mounds in Wisconsin. The group toured the Lower Dells by amphibious duck Thursday, and toured the Upper Dells by boat Friday morning.^ The Wisconsin Dells group also enjoyed a visit to the Royal London Wax Museum and a couple of hours of swimming at a motel where they stayed during their Dells visit. Following their tour of the Upper Dells Friday morning, the Big Hollow group left for Madison and Cave of The Mounds. This group enjoyed dinner at the University of Wisconsin in Madison following their tour of the underground caverns before returning to Ingleside. SACRAMENT OF THE SICK STAFF PHOTO-WAYNE GAYLORD Administer Sacrament Of Sick At Church When Pope John XXIII announced to his flock in the Roman Catholic church, "Open the windows and let some air in!", some of the freshness brought in by Vatican II affected the Sacrament known as Extreme Unction. The new and updated version of this Sacrament, referred to now as the Sacrament of the Sick, was administered at Christ the King church in Wonder Lake Friday, June 14. In a moving and impressive ceremony about fifty parishioners, either elderly or chronically ill, were annointed at the 5 p.m. Mass. Prior to the ceremonies, Sister Delphine explained to the group how the Sacrament has been updated to conditions of modern life, keeping the old idea, but adding new dimensions. It is still a preparation for death, but given in this case, not at the moment of death, but at a time when the person is not unconscious and can be aware of and appreciate the beauty of the Sacrament. She said the effect of the Sacrament is to heal the whole person • body, soul and emotions. The Mass, during which liturgical readings significant to the occasion were given, was concelebrated by Father Dorrance Tranel, pastor of Christ the King, and Father Bernard Rooney. In his homily, Father Rooney said it is wise for the Church to celebrate Old Age. He stated that the Sacrament is beneficial in easing worries, giving strength and comfort and alleviating loneliness. Following the ceremony, the joyfulness of the occasion was celebrated with a reception and refreshments for all. The Sacrament will be administered again in the fall at Christ the King church. Since homes are being built with no attics, women have taken to carrying bigger purses. At the risk of appearing contradictory, here is FREE professional advice. Has your family situation changed in recent months or years? Making more money: less money?
