PACiK I6-PLAINI)EALER-FIMH\Y, JUNE 28, 1974 Holiday Hills Karen Kottke 385-6675 Service Sons Welcomed Home By Families For those wondering why D r i f t w o o d a n d Park Terrace are glowing with excitement lately, the aura is emanating from the Laskowski residence and the Van Duyn residence. Both families' sons have recently returned from their tours of duty'with "Uncle Sam". Spec. 4th Class John Laskowski was released from active duty on June 21. He had been stationed in North Carolina. John spent many months in that state's wildlife compound training in jungle warfare, his training also included parachuting. During this time John made 18 parachute jumps. He also developed a lust for the outdoors and is looking forward to the fishing and hunting opportunities in his own back yard. John plans to complete; his college education as soon as possible. Pfc. John Van Duyn returned to his family this past week also. John had been stationed in Landstuhl, Germany. His homecoming was also his parents first opportunity to welcome their new daughter-in- law to the family. Spec. 4th Class Yvonne Amos and John were united in wedlock on Dec. 20, 1973. Best luck to the newlyweds on their homecoming. -- t a i i V t f t t t LEE & RAY HAS THEM! The Wee-Home Environment Make from frigidaire and General Motors. BIRTHDAYPARTY We had the pleasure of entertaining four young guests overnight Saturday, Jupe 22, to iielp celebrate our son, wcky's eleventh birthday, June 23. Tim and Terry Bourke, Randy Vidas, and Chris Kottke joined Ricky and his brother, Jimmy, for the overnight slumber party. The boys enjoyed playing many of the games Ricky and I formulated for their entertainment, in particular the treasure hunt. After all the games were played and prizes distributed, they played ball.until darkness set in. As usual very little slumbering occurred. The boys departed early Sunday. This left time for Mom and Dad to prepare for the second party which all the relatives were to attend. Ricky will long remember his eleventh birthday and all the delightful * gifts he received. BOWLING NEWS The Women's Thursday Nite Handicap League saw some pretty good bowling on June 13, as Sharon Mazza and Karen Conner both bowled a 188 in their second game. Congratulations to both women and hope they continue in this manner.. VISIT OLD RESIDENTS Sharon Kottke and her two children, Laura and Chris, spent the day visiting with Bonnie Kellen in her new residence in Lisle. The Kellens adore their new home evei. though they no longer have a lake in their back yard. But they do have an enormous above ground pool as a substitute, which Sharon, Bonnie, and the kids took advantage of during their visit. We're glad to hear that this lovely family is enjoying their new residence. Family is enjoyii sidence. f BIRTHDAYS Happy birthday greetings to Ruben Gonzales, Jr., and Terry Priko on July 1; to Donna Stanchuk on July 2; to Ricky Connell on July 3; to Kurt Teuber on July 4; and to my daughter, Denise, who will finally be 5 years old, and Michael Janik on July 5. Local areas sponsor fireworks displays which are both delightful and beautiful. We're hoping that the tradition of displaying fireworks in honor of our country's independence will not be disrupted because of the c a r e l e s s n e s s a n d thoughtlessness of those few who insist on purchasing and using illegal ones. Let this and every holiday be a safe one for you and yours. .
