Starting off the day, Mr and Mrs. Sullivan attended 12 o'clock Mass at Christ the King church being offered for them in celebration of the twenty-fifth wedding anniversary of their marriage. They departed church to find a mysterious note in their auto (placed there by Bill Etten> stating Mrs. Sullivan's brother (Gien Gursky) and his wife, Blanche, were in Wonder Lake for a visit and were waiting for the Sullivans at the American Legion, Post 1169, in Wonder Lake. While Chuck and Roz had been in church, strange things had happened at home. Furniture had been moved, a babysitter had arrived and people seldom seefl were descending on Wonder Lake. At approximately 12:50 p.m. Chuck and Roz arrived at the American Legion expecting to find Roz's brother and wife. The Sullivans had walked in on what they thought was someone else's party - it was in fact a party - their surprise silver wedding anniversary party, given and hosted by their daughter, Christine. Without their knowledge, friends, relatives and Chuck and Roz's daughter,* nad for approximately four months been planning this celebration. Overcome with emotion and complete surprise, the Sullivans enjoyed a day filled with guests attending from Chicago, Lombard, Roselle, Crystal Lake, Richmond, Schiller Park, Des Plaines, Waukegan, Delavan, Wis., and of course, Wonder Lake. Everyone enjoyed a hardy meal and refreshments including a champagne toast were served also. Dinner, dancing and listening music was provided by the Sullivan's daughter, Christine, and her organ. l,ater in the evening, the Don Malos, the Bill Ettens and the Chuck Sullivans enjoyed a late dinner at a Steak house in Crystal Lake. Still later on Tuesday, June 25, which was the actual date of the anniversary, the same three couples celebrated turther by attending Phyllis Diller's show in Lake Geneva. Roz sums up the whole thing with this thought. "Can Hardly wait for 50 years!" BIRTHDAY GREETINGS Belated birthday greetings to Linda Bender who celebrated with a bang on July 4. Linda is enjoying a Wonder Lake summer and will return to her studies at Northern Illinois University at DeKalb this fall. TEACHER RESIGNS When we walked into Harrison school last fall, the occasion being the annual open house for parents, one of the classrooms had a large poster in a prominent place that boldy said, "LIFE - You're only on this earth once. The upper grade teacher who gives this philosophy and passes it on to his students has submitted his resignation to Harrison School to accept a social studies position in his hometown of Mt.
