One of the best ways to do this is with dry baking soda on a damp sponge, followed by rinsing and drying. Q. How can I revive glazed chintz draperies? A. Restore the gloss somewhat with a light starch solution containing wax. Use a piece of wax paraffin or candlewax. Stir the wax into a boiling starch solution until completely melted. When the mixture has cooled, immerse your draperies, then hang them up to dry. When nearly dry, iron them on the right side. Q. How can I remove scratches from silverware? A. Procure a small quantity of putty powder, put this into a saucer, and add just enough olive oil to make a paste. Rub this paste on your silver with a soft flannel cloth, then polish with a chamois, and your scratches should have vanished. Q. How can I prepare my own good wallpaper paste? A. Add a tablespoon of powdered alum to one quart of water, then sift some flour into the water and stir constantly until it has acquired the consistency of dough. Then pour in some boiling water to dilute it to the desired consistency. Q. How can I produce a glass- smooth finish when patching plastered walls? A. Allow your patch to set until the plaster begins to stiffen. Then dip a putty knife or trowel into water, and drag the wet tool over the surface of '•EASY CARE" HAIR CUTS < FOR gals on the go • Layer Cuts • Shags • Naturals $10.00, JAUE'S 385-7771 the partially hardened plaster. Anna Mae Cuda, Secretary (Pub. July 12,1974) THINK ABOflT by BOB JUSTEN A Peace Corps Volunteer was assigned to a backward country a few years ago. Her job was to educate people to wear shoes or sandals so they would not get worms To cut down on their chewing of cacao leaves because it dulled their initiative...To be sanitary in order to eliminate disease...To learn better nutrition...Torespect other people's property so that there would be no need for vicious dogs, adobe walls with broken glass encrusted on top to thwart thefts . . . She is now back in the States land associated with a large University. She complains that students go bare foot everywhere but to class...They smoke pot... They throw garbage out of windows..They eat mostly ham burgers, pizzas and 1'rench fries..They steal university property and from oath other without any real need ... In her complaint she asks how can we tell other people in other countries - "Do what I tell you, not what I do?" .. She has a point. But - her indictment of ALL college youth is an exaggeration of a partial truth In tort ' it is a twisted truth that has lost its temper. ^OMGEIL JysiJM i UNiaiAL.UOMli' FUEL-SAVING 5/CVCLEG ARE SACK- TUATS GOOD BUTSOMt DON'T kMw rules of roap IF VOU RIPE, BE SURE /S STURDY, IN GOOD REPbjR, with e/frxes Li&HTS AND REFLECTORS ARE NECESSARY FOR NIGHT TIME USE..
