Lakeland Park Anne Moore 385-6448 Swimming Lesson Dates Changed To July 29-Aug. 9 All residents should be aware hat the dates of the Red Cross Swimming Lessoas have been •hanged and are now scheduled or July 29 through August 9. Classes will be held Monday hrough Friday during the norning hours and it is necessary that the West Beach be closed to all other swimmers except those children taking lessons at their specified time. Children can still register for the lessons to be taught by Donna Humann by telephoning the Humann residence <385- 1605) and speaking with either Donna or her mother, Carol Humann. Donna has asked that I remind swimming students that just because they have passed beginner swimming lessons is no reason to think that they have learned all their potential will allow. There are several openings in the Junior Lifesaver and Senior Lifesaver classes and those of you who would like to further your knowledge of swimming are asked to phone for registration information A WEDDING! Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Gagnon are happy to announce the marriage of their grandson Roy W. Ketcher of Chicago to Mrs. Rose Marie Jacobi of Hillside. The lovely ceremony took place at 11 a.m. on July 4 at St. Domitala's Catholic church in Hillside. This was a very proud day for Joe Gagnon not only because he's Grandpa, but because he was his grandson's best man. The bride's twelve-year-old daughter, Kathy, was maid of honor and the bride was escorted down the aisle to the altar by her eleven-year-old son Tom. Two days later, on July 6, a picnic reception was held for several guests in the garden of the bride's Hillside home. All the delicious food was especially prepared by the groom, who is a gourmet cook. Everyone had a marvelous time and our best wishes are extended to the new Mr. and Mrs. Roy Ketcher. P.S., Grandpa says there is no generation gap in his family! FLORIDA VACATION When Richard and Helga • Broemm stepped off the airplane at O'Hare field last Friday night they were pleased to be greeted by their daughter, Denise, and her husband, Duane Winn. The young couple especially pleased Mom by giving her a pretty bouquet of flowers to welcome her home. Mr. and Mrs. Broemm spent two weeks in sunny Gainesville, ^ Fla., where they were guests at the home of Louise Teichman. One of the many places of interest they visited was Silver Springs where they enjoyed their ride in the klass bottom boat. Helga wrote home that she enjoyed shopping and that they both enjoyed their relaxing visit to Cedar Keyes on the Gulf of Mexico. Duane and Denise are glad to have Mom and Dad back home and are happy their dog sitting days are over, at least until dad and mom take their next fun trip! RECUPERATING Friends and neighbors who have wondered where that smiling face of Mrs. Dorothy Meineke has been hiding lately should know she's a patient at Woodstock hospital Mrs. Meineke entered the hospital about three weeks ago for scheduled surgery and some serious complications developed and emergency surgery was performed. After several days in intensive care the family is delighted to say she is coming along nicely now. She will spend the next few months recuperating and I'm sure she's ready to receive some cheery mail now from all her friends in the area. We sure hope you'll soon be well again. VACATION'S OVER The Treadwell famiiy just returned from their vacation that this year took them to several towns here in Illinois and in Missouri. First stop was Bloomington where they visited briefly with Penny's aunt and uncle and met her cousin's spouse. The next day took Jerry, Penny, Susan and Patty to New Salem where they found the old log cabins they visited fascinating. They spent the next night in Litchfield and the morning brought them to St. Louis where they saw the arch and enjoyed a river boat ride. They all enjoyed their visit to Six Flags over Mid-America and everyone was surprised that Patty was braver than Susan when it came to exploring the many rides at this fantastic amusement park! They visited St. Louis again on their return trip home and had fun at the St. Louis Zoo and enjoyed their visit to a poplar brewery. They spent the rest of their time "away from it all" visiting Jerry's dad and his family. Francis and Georgia Treadwell were glad to have the company and all in all the Treadwells from Lakeland Park had a fun vacation this year!
