West Shore Beach residents will display their best bakery goods as well as a fine collection of old and new subdivision treasures. For the first time the Property Owners Association will be selling Flea Market space please call me and 1 will give you the n e c e s s a r y i n f o r m a t i o n . Remember for only a minimal fee you can set up your own shop and have a /personal garage sale with us. The event will be Saturday, July 27. Also new this year is the consignment of large items such as furniture, appliances, rugs, etc., to the subdivision for additional fund-raising. For example you can sell your dresser apd only have to give the subdivision 10 percent of your sale. You get free a d v e r t i s e m e n t a n d a n opportunity to sell to a large Oumber of consumers. The Womatfs Auxiliary will sponsor a n|jftdi-crafts table which will display the hand made items of our talented ladies in the area. These items are all donated and will be worth exploring. In case of rain the sale will still be held at 5407 W. Highland Drive, so just follow the signs there! Won't you please join us this Saturday and help raise some money for our many needed subdivision improvements. We want to make West Shore Beach an even better place to live! OWNERS MEET A record twenty-five residents attended last week's association meeting at our beach. Hope you were there! Discussed was the intensive willow tree removal that has been done on Beachside road near the creek. These trees fell on private property and damaged a homeowner's cyclone fence. A large debt of $350 was incurred from this necessary work. Also, Sylvia Wasicak reported on the McHenry unincorporated road association. Our members voted to support the resolution of house bill 2391. Fred Schmidt, Ed Piatt, Henry Aissen ami Joe Finielio are in charge of working on the lettering for our new street signs. Volunteers are needed for this Saturday's flea- rummage-bake sale. The next regularly scheduled meeting is Aug. 10 at 4:30 p.m. S A L E P A R T I C I P A N T S Please bring your rummage items to 5407 W. Highland drive anytime this week. If you would like to purchase flea table space, have large items for consignment; or need pick up service for your rummage items call Connie Schmidt at 385-7841. All bake items should be taken to {Catherine Aissen at 5429 Westshore drive on Friday, July 26. If you need bakery pick up call 385-2590. Martha Dignan is collecting any handi-crafts apd would appreciate your call at 385-1033. PERSONALS Chet and Lyall Andersen enjoyed camping north of Eau Claire, Wis., for a wonderful week of relaxation. They shared their campsite with friendly racoons who kept an eye on them and used their wash water and food scraps! Three big birthday wishes to Jimmy Moore who will be celebrating with his sister, Lisa, on July 28. Anniversary joy to Mr. and Mrs. "Doc" Besing on July 26. Legion Post Offers Aid For Veterans At MCC The Crystal Lake post of the American Legion has offered financial assistance to veterans attending McHenry County college through the creation of an emergency loan fund. The $1,000 will be used by veterans at MCC who do not receive educational assistance on time. "The efforts of the American Legion will be greatly appreciated by many veterans who have a hard enough time trying to live on $220 or less per month. This money will enable us to help veterans who do not receive their checks on time because of the bureaucracy of the Veteran's Adminis­ t r a t i o n , " s a i d P a t r i c k Coghlan, coordinator of veteran's affairs at MCC. "The Veterans' administration is, however, working on correcting these deficiencies," Coghlan added. Hie loan was arranged by Don Bruns, MCC veteran; Kenneth "Gus" Williams, student activities director, and Coghlan. KIWANIS NEWS WONDER LAKE CLUB At the July 15 meeting, Art Lau gave a summary of the K i w a n i s I n t e r n a t i o n a l convention at Denver which he attended with A1 Mecham, Sr., recently. Over 20,000 Kiwanians and their families were in attendance. Theme of the convention' was "Share Your Life" and "Latter Years and Younger Years". Kiwanis activities were focused on both the younger groups and the senior citizens. There were several changes in the by-laws voted at the c o n v e n t i o n . O p e n i n g membership to women was voted down. Bob Myers announced that Art Lau and Guy White will also be delegates at the district convention Aug. 15,16 and 17 at Decatur. A1 Mecham, Sr., will be an alternate. Division Play day will be held at DeKalb, July 24. Four members will attend. The inter-club at Dundee on Aug. 5 will be attended bv President Bob Stangl, Bob Myers, Eli Whitney and Ai Noel. VET REPS Sixty-five Illinois Veterans administration employees will complete an intensive two-weeks course in Cleveland, qualifying them for the VA's new "man- on-campus" jobs.
