fR*H*U §*> i • u Vage 4 - PLAINDEALER-FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 20, 1974 Lakemoor-Lilymoor 385-5689 Alma Hueckstaedt ;pst Ruling •for Burning 'Out Of Doors ' j r It has been quite some time since anyting was put in this column regarding burning anything out of doors. The ^ruling reads that burning wood ^branches, trees or scrap yvood) or paper or leaves are 'the only things you are allowed to burn. Burning rags, garbage or mattresses are not allowed. If you have any of these items to get rid of you can put them in the proper containers and they will be picked up on your regular garbage day. Yes they have even taken mattresses. If this ruling is abused, it could very well be changed so as not to allow any burning of any kind, and with the autumn leaf falling season about to begin, we can all use the burning privileges we have Fish Fry Friday 5 until 9 P.M. Public Always Welcome Chicken and Steak ALSO SERVING Whole Channel Cat Fish, Shrimp, Scallops Lunch 11 AM to 2PM Dinner 5PM to 9PM Pistakee Country• Club ; 815 W. Bay Road (Rte. 134) " Phone: 385-9854 If you have any such items you can for a very nominal sum of money the scavenger service will take them away so you will not be tempted to burn them thus causing air pollution of which we can do very well without. COMMUNITY MEETINGS It <;eems to me 'hat between the two communities of Lilymoor and Lakemoor there is an approximate population count of sixteen hundred (1,6001 people, and of the meetings 1 have attended for both communities it is surprising how few residents attend them Lakemoor village meetings are on the second and fourth Thursdays of every month and the Lilymoor meetings are on the second Tuesday of every month. All residents are welcome and are urged to attend these meetings not only to support the officers but to be on hand to see how your money is spent. If you don't attend then you have no ground for complaint as to how your dues are alloted. if you are satisfied witli the job your officers are ioing then why not come out and let it be known in person. All the above listed meetings are scheduled for 8 p.m. VEHICLE STICKERS The county police are ticketing persons who do not have their vehicle stickers for 1974 Anyone in Lakemoor who still has to purchase a sticks- can do so by contacting Carol Schmidt, village clerk, at her home at 400 W. Rand Road or at the Municipal building on Thursday evenings. The address for that is 234 \V. Rand Road Call Carol at 385-1117 and make arrangements for your sticker before you are ticketed for not having it. CIVIL DEFENSE SALE From all reports the bake and junque sale was very successful. It took many hours of very hard work organizing and setting up the merchandise for a sale like that Volunteers gave many hours '>f their time to work on Labor Day weekend to help make it a success. I understand that it was also a lot of fun. BIRTHDAYS Very happy birthday wishes go out to the following persons on their very special day. The National 4-H Foundation Communications staff is looking for pictures taken by 4 H members depicting 4-H'ers in action. These photographs will be used for the 1977 4-H calendar' ' and for other public information pieces. Black and white prints should be no smaller than 5x7, says Ms. Frank. Cofor slides will be considered, but the committee prefers the original slide rather than a duplicate. Horizontal pictures are preferred over vertical shots and close-ups are more desirable than general scenes or groups of people. Photos and slides selected for use will be retained in the permanent files of the National 4-H foundation Any 4-H'ers having pictures he or she would like to have considered for this program should contact their county Extension adviser for a 4-H Calendar program entry form. VETO ROAD BILLS Governor Daniel Walker (D) vetoed State Rep Cal Skinner, Jr. 's subdivision road bills last week. Commenting on the action, a disappointed and disturbed Skinner said, "First, Governor Walker is instrumental in forcing into an RTA district when he knows that mass transportation cannot be justified in a county with our low population density; now, he tells us he won't help us improve our local roads." Here's JOHNNY CARSON APPAREL INC "There are times when you want to dress up a little. But you still want to feel comfortable. That's one reason I like this suit so much. It's dressy, but I don't feel "all - dressed - up", if you know what I mean. And the fabric is lust right for cool fall nights." 7Jlc0ee?4.
