Parents are encouraged to attend this meeting Children nine years old are eligible to join FIREMENS DANCE Tftfe date is Saturday, Oct. 12, about 8 p.m. when the fu# begins at the annual Firemen's dance to be held in St. Peter's parish hall. There will be dancing, plus refrehments, liquid and solid. Come and spend a happy evening with old and new friends. HOSPITALIZED Happy to hear that Jack Schmitt is back home recovering well. Jack underwnt surgery, an appendectomy, several weeks ago. Also happy to report that Clarence Miller is home. NAIM Fifty-eight members of St. Margaret Chapter, NAIM were present at the mass offered for deceased members and deceased spouses of members at St. Peter's church, on Sunday, Sept. 15. Following the mass a dinner was served them by members of the Christian Mothers Society in the parish hall. The meal served was delicious and all present enjoyed the day very much. INSTALLATION OF OFFICERS Sixty members of the Christian Mothers society of St. Peter's parish attended the installation of officers and dinner held at Crandall's, Hebron, on Thursday night, Sept. 19. Mrs. Catherine Kagan conducted the instal ¥ ion ceremony. New officers are Jeanette Todey, vice-president and Madeline Behm, treasurer. Officers, who had served the past two years were Barbara Wagner as vice-president and Margaret Monohan as treasurer. President Beverly Schmitt expressed her appreciation for their help and cooperation during their term of office. Plans were finalized for the rummage sale to be Sept. 28 and 29. Eva Freund spoke on the Holy year Observance which will be held at Woodstock Oct. 13 beginning at 1 p.m. with a mass at St. Mary's Catholic church. The Most Reverend Arthur J. O'Neil, Bishon of Rockford, will conceletrate with pastors of all parishes in McHenry Deanery. There will be workshops through the afternoon. All parishes are encouraged to send representatives. LCWC MEETS The first meeting of the year 1974-1975 was held in town hall of Wednesday, Sept. 18, with twenty-three members of the Lotus Country Woman's Club and seven guests present. Frances Heinemann said "Grace" and a lovely lunch was served. President Kay Smith opened the meeting and everyone joined^ in a song and salute to the flag. Corresponding Secretary and Treasurer reports were read and approved. Recording Secretary presented a citation of achievement received by the club for their community improvement program. Also read a letter of personal congratulations from the General Federation of Women's Clubs and Sears Roebuck for the work done in the club's projects during the year 1974 An announcement was made that there would be a District 4 meeting in Algonquin on Sept. 30. Delegates from the club will attend. An invitation was extended, by the Richmond Woman's Club, to a demonstration which will be held in Spring Grove town hall on Oct. 8, 1 p.m. The resignation of Viola McNish as a member was accepted and a motion was made that a letter of regret and a life membership card be sent to her. A thank you note was read from Sah Hanssen fonthe flowers and remembrances at the time of her birthday. A thank you was extended Marge Jung and Erma Raeder who had made a new tablecloth for the officer's table. There was also a new bulletin board and speaker's stand presented by Kay Smith. Posted on the bulletin board were the names of all members who had birthdays in June, July and August. Hanging flower baskets for the town square were suggested and would be donated by Pauline Horak. The reading of the by-laws was tabled until the November meeting. On the next meeting date, Oct. 16, there will be a luncheon and theatre at Shady Lane, Marengo. Meeting place - Town Hall, Spring Grove, 10:30 a.m. The meeting was adjourned. Everyone went to the home of Mrs. Ida Koberstine for an organ recital. Ida played superbly and all enjoyed it very much. HALLOWEEN PARTY PLANNED Chairmen have been selected to head the annual Halloween card party and luncheon to be held in St. Peter's parish hall on Tuesday, Oct. 29, starting at noon, sponsored by the Christian Mothers Society. Chairmen are Eva Freund, Mary Amore and Elaine Etten. String Band To Appear At Bible Church The public is invited to hear the Chicago United String band at the Wonder Lake Bible church Sunday evening, Sept. 29, at 6 p.m. The band has been ministering in gospel music, without charge, in churches and institutions throughout the Chicago metropolitan area for over thirty-five years. It had its origin in the Lakeview tent meetings in the late 1930's, and under the direction of the late Mabel Hultgren, met with such great success that it was decided to continue its ministry. The membership of the band is about 150, with an average attendance of forty. It is i n t e r d e n o m i n a t i o n a l , a n d members range in age from the teens to the 90's, with many of the original members still eagerly looking forward to the next performance. P.O.
