Pat and Jack, must not be superstitious either as they helped Kris celebrate his birthday with his friends at a local eating place where they all ate delicious pizza, then his folks had all the fellows back to the house where they enjoyed eating cake and ice cream and an overnight stay! Kim Butler and Cindv Braun went along to eat some pizza and it was hard to tell who had more fun. the eirls. or the young fellows. CONSERVATION CLUB NEWS The McCullom Lake Conservation Club members met and discussed plans for a fishing derby to be held in February. Volunteers are needed to finalize the plans and help, and those of you enthusiasts who would like to take part in this fun winter event should phone Jerry Raycraft at 385-7851. SCOUTING NEWS Fall is officially here and with it returns the various scout meetings of the area. Girl Scout Troop 320 is in trouble and may be no more if volunteers don't step forward to become leaders. There must be a woman or two out there who would like to inquire about this task. Please phone Carol Johnson at 385-4543. Scout Master Ray Jensen of Boy Scout Troop 459 has already met with his young men and the fellows look forward to their meetings every Tuesday at the community house. Boys from age 11 and up are welcome and should contact Mr. Jensen at 385-6386. The meetings begin at 7:30p.m. and are usually ended about 9 p.m. Brownie Troop 464 members can once again depend on Judy Irwin and Barb Williams who are co-leaders at the meetings held each Thursday at 4 p.m. at the community house. Young girls in first through third grade comprise this troop. Here's hoping the scouts will have a happy year! WEEKEND FOR KIDS! John and Sharon Gacek took their son, Jay. and baby daughter, Antoinette, on a fun weekend trip designed especially for children. Their cousins, Jackie and Danny Mydlowski, and their daughter, Danielle, joined them for this different weekend "away from it all". They all drove to Milwaukee where they spent the entire day at the famous Milwaukee Zoo. They spent the night in Wisconsin and then proceeded to Santa's Village on Sunday which the children enjoyed, almost as much as the parents! FAMILVGATHERING ! Sunday, Sept. 15, was an especially exciting day at the Walinski home. Dick and Bev were the host and hostess to Bev's entire family and their daughter, Linda, was excited and enjoyed all the fun. Family members gathered here to And the Walkinskis had chosen a Mexican theme for their party since it was held the day before Mexican I n d e p e n d e n c e D a y . Enchiladas, a salad made in the shape of the Mexican flag and a delicious salad made with various vegetables and fruits and lettuce were the highlights of the buffet dinner served to their guests. The Luther league at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran church, 404 North Green street, McHenry, has planned a hayride outing Sunday, Sept. 29, at 6 p.m. The leaguers will all meet at the church briefly at 6 p.m. to elect new officers for the group and will then go as a group to a farm for a hayride outing. The outing has been arranged by Brian and Rondi Cunat. Following the ride the leaguers will enjoy a campfire and wiener roast. All members of the league are asked to register for the event by Sunday noon. The Luther league recently completed a successful paper arive to provide scholarships for a weekend winter retreat being planned at Lutherdale Bible camp in Elkhorn, Wis. Miss Schaid has been in this location for 15 years Vietnam-era veterans discharged during a four-year period before Aug. 1 have until Aug. 1, 1975, to apply for low- cost Veterans Group Life Insurance (VGLI),- according to the Veterans administration. An estimated 2.7 million veterans separated from April 2, 1970, through July 31, 1974, are eligible for the insurance. It is designed as interim protection during readjustment to civilian life. Servicemen discharged since Aug. 1 will receive application forms automatically, the VA added. Non-renewable, five-year term coverage is available in $5,000 increments up to $20 000. Monthly premium for the maximum coverage is $3.40 for veterans aged 34 and under and $6.80 for those 35 and over. Personnel may convert Servicemen's Group Life Insurance to VGLI without medical examination, if applications are received within 120 days of separation. Applications after that time must include evidence of good health. This requirement is waived for veterans with VA- rated, service-connected disabilities. Application forms are available from VA offices and veterans service organizations. Completed forms and premiums should be sent to the Office of Servicemen's Group Life Insurance, 212 Washington St., Newark, N.J 07102.
