HERE AND THERE IN BUSINESS Company Warns Against Fraud Northern Illinois Gas company warns its customers that men posing as company employees have been seeking entrance to some Chicago area residences for fraudulent purposes Most of the schemes involve exorbitant service and repair estimates. NI-Gas officials stress thefact that, in normal situations, a service call is made at a residence only if the customer has requested it or made an appointment, and in instances of gas main construction and normal meter-reading every two months. In particular, NI- Gas employees do not requestor collect money, as any charges incurred for services performed would be indicated* on the customer's regular bill. Officials at the utility say th#t all NI-Gas employees , are provided with an identification card which bears a color photograph of the employee, the NI-Gas name and the signature of the bearer. The I.D. is readily available upon request. Also, all NI-Gas vehicles have a distinctive blue and white color combination; service trucks have readily i d e n t i f i a b l e c o m p a n y markings. . Community authorities or the local NI-Gas office should be consulted if a person cannot adequately confirm that a caller is a NI-Gas employee. 4-H NEWS CHERRY VALLEY CLUB Elections were held for the officers of the Cherry Valley 4- H club Friday, Sept. 20. Members took a tour of Trout park at Elgin recently. They also had breakfast at McHenry dam state park. The last meeting was held at the Fiala home on 1012 North Ridge road.
