Holiday Hills Karen Kottke 385-6675 Scribe Tries To Promote More Column News Thought I'd try to interest a few of my readers into promoting some news. Seems everyone's trying to hibernate these days. Anyone having new neighbors around them would be of great service if they'd give me a buzz with a little background on the newcomers. I'd like to introduce them to the Plaindealer also Certainly out of approximately 200 families, someone has been doing something of interest, even if you feel it's an insignificant happening, let me know. You might enjoy seeing your family event in print. How many folks have kids off to college or in the military service or coming out of the service? What school (grade through high school) activities are you involved in during or after school hours? How about the bowlers in the area; or ladies involved in volunteer work? Now that you've been given the clues, I expect many, many more calls in the future. WOMEN'S CLUB NEWS The Holiday Hills Women's Club is again busy preparing for its annual Christmas bazaar. The activity will be one of the highlights of the season for the club. This event requires many hours of planning, hours of preparing goods, and volunteers to work during the day of the bazaar. Many of the clubs activities had been curtailed this year from lack of interest, but we're hoping all the club members will put forth an all out effort for this event. Of course we never turn down help from anyone who wishes to participate. The Women's Club will be having its annual membership drive soon. Volunteers will be inviting all the women in the subdivision to become members and join the rest of the club members for a once a month retreat from family and home. Come, relax, and enjoy - the second Wednesday of the month. For the October meeting the date is Oct. 9; at the Mahon residence - 1509 W. Birch. GIRLSCOUTS Any word on the Girl Scout troop leaders? We desperately need two troop leaders for these girls. They have a very active group and it would be distressing to loose this troop's charter. Call Marge Connell at 385-3756 for further information FAMILY REUNION PICNIC On Saturday, Sept. 21, my husband's family met at his parents home in Arlington Heights, for a family reunion picnic. The group consisted of family members from Jim's mother's side of the family. It's a shame we don't get together more often, as it was confusing keeping track of all the kid's names. They have all grown so much in a couple of years! The Ask us i about I babies are no longer babies, and the children are now teens, and the young marrieds are now the old folks. But time marches on, and with it the families grow. Pretty soon there are so many uncles, aunts, and • cousins that. one home can hardly hold them all, so reunions become spaced further apart. Everyone enjoyed seeing each other again. The only thought that comes to mind now, and it brings chills, is that someday it'll be our turn to host the reunion! BIRTHDAYS Birthday greetings to Michelle Campell on Sept. 29; to Carol Carlson and Sonny Bowen on Sept.30; to Myron Appleyard on Oct. 1; to Kim Kathan and Tom Novak on Oct. 3; to Joey Foreman, Roseann Catanzaro, Millie Jeschke and Judy Jaramski on Oct. 4; U> Linda Filip, and Carol Wilson on Oct. 5; to Joan Laskowski and Gar Young on Oct. 6; and to Colleen Priko on Oct. 9. This can be quite a chore with a little one this size. We are also looking for clothes for a little girl two years old who wears a size 3 or 4 toddler She has very few toys, so perhaps someone might also donate a few things for her to play with. I'm sure many people have clothes for young children that their own youngsters have outgrown. These two babies could certainly put them to good use. Fish volunteer Mrs. Leonard F. (Althea) Gaghan will handle pickup of anything you may be able to donate to these children G.T.
