McHenry Shores Mrs. Rose Lillegard Several Local Women Model In Fashion Show Looking for an evening out? The Town and Country Newcomers Club is holding its fourth annual fashion show on Tuesday, Oct. 22, 8 p.m. at the McHenry Country Club. The theme of fireside fashions will set the mood as Mai and Jo Bellairs commentate the show of fall and holiday apparel. Several ladies of McHenry Shores will model fashions from nine local stores. Among them are: Judy Altenbern, Marilyn Bokemeier, Judy Fredericks, Lillian Waller, Sue Van Riper and Maryann Zutaut. Tickets are on sale now by calling 344-1976. Proceeds of the benefits will go to Youth, Inc., a local chartered teen organization serving McHenry County. Won't you please join in at this gala event. LOST PURSE Thursday, Oct. 10, a local Cub Scout selling candy in the village lost a little blue purse containing the monies collected from selling his candies. It was lost somewhere near Miller Drive. If you know of the whereabouts and would like to know the owner, please contact this columnist. HALLOWEEN CONTEST Once again this year the McHenry Shores Social Club will be sponsoring its children's Halloween costume contest. The date is Saturday, Oct. 26, at the beach, 2 p.m. Trophies will be awarded for first place and ribbons for second and third places in each category. The categories are as follows: prettiest, funniest, original and over all grand prize. There will also be a decorated pumpkin contest. Pumpkins should be decorated at home and brought to the beach area for judging. There will be apple bobbing and refreshments served. DESIGN CONTEST At the regular Board of Trustee meeting Oct. 10. the main event was the judging of the design contest for a vehicle sticker. First prize went to John Novotny for his design depicting McHenry Shores as a peaceful community showing water with a fishing boat and fisherman. Mrs. Pinkonsly's design will be used for the emblem on the village banner. Greek Stuffed Eggplant Parboil eggplant (3 small) 12- 15 minute* in boiling water. Re move from water; cut In half lengthwise, removing pulp to within Vi inch of skin. Chop pulp In small pieces; reserve. Brush cut surface of eggplant with lHi tablespoons lemon Juice. Mix with 1 pound ground lamb. Sante lamb In 2 tablespoons of olive or salad oil until pink color is gone. Add: reserved eggplant pulp, Vt cup bread crumbs, 1 beaten egg, 2 tablespoons parsley flakes, V% tea spoon oregano leaves, xk teaspoon garlic salt, and % teaspoon ground black pepper. Mix welL Fill shells with mixture. Top each with V« cup toasted bread cubes. Place in greased baking pan. Bake in preheated moderate oven -- 350 F-30 minutes. Serves six.
