On The Sidelines With Dick Pabbltt Attended the Barrington-Joliet Catholic game last Saturday. It was quite a ball game indeed. The Broncos took advantage of mistakes by Joliet early in the gamfc and ran up a quick 14 too score. It was a physical game, and the Broncos came up on the snort end of it, as they lost two fine linemen, who may be through for the season. • In the game that may decide the Class 4 A title Harrington hosts the Rockford East "E-Rabs" this Saturday at 1:30 at Barrington. The Broncos held on in the Joliet game to win by a score of 28 to 20. Bill Blankenhorn the A.D. at McHenry and Coach Bill Day were also in attendance. '* Congratulations are in order for George Hansen, John Dix and Bob Eppel, Warrior football players who were named to the Elgin Courier All Area Team. This has to be an honor, when considering the number of conference in the Elgin Area. GLENBARD WEST WAS DEFEATED IN THE PLAYOFFS. Haven't heard from that certain official in the area about his pick, but all in fun, he does call a good baseball game. One happy fella these days is Coach Bill Day. His former pupil Ken Anderson of Cincinnati broke two National Football Records last Sunday. He threw 16 successive complete passes over a two gapie span, and also threw for 20 out of 22 against Pittsburgh Sunday, beating records by Joe Namath and Len Dawson. Ken is from Batavia where Day formerly coached, prior to coming to McHenry. The McHenry County Ail Star Football Team is something to behold. Just take a gander at the size of the squad. In gathering all the stat's from the coaches it was almost unbelievable. The schools range in size from Class 1-A to Class 4-A. The credentials of some of these young lads in respect to the caliber of their competition would make college coaches come running to the county. All the schools in the county can be proud indeed of the accomplishments of their football players. We hope in future years we can get all county newspapers to participate in picking a team. A meeting of all the coaches to make the selections is more worthwhile, than sending in names, but until a better way is found, we will do it this way. The coaches appreciate the Plaindealer in their effort. From all reports the winter sport season at McHenry high is going to be as successful as the fall season. With both Cross Country and Football having banner seasons, and the outlook good for swimming, wrestling and basketball good this could be the year of the Warrior. A little bird tells me that coach Ludwig in basketball practice has to stand on a chair, to see his squad eye to eye. That must be a most pleasant moment for the Coach who stands over six feet himself. For one of the few times in history the Warriors look as if they will have the height that they have been lacking in past seasons. More on basketball next week. As estimated 35,000 accidents involving toys are caused each year in Illinois, according to the Society, which has campaigned to eliminate unnecessary blindness in Illinois since its founding fifty-eight years ago.
