Most recent beneficiaries of funds for books from the Bridge For Books tournament were fourth grade students at Montini Primary center. Because the fourth grade relocated from the Middle school to the'Primary center, the schoolXibrary was deficient in books suitable for that grade level. Mrs./ Frances Schneider, teacher in charge of the library at the Primary center, requested the funds available through Ronald Svoboda, superintendent of schools at Montini. More than $200 worth of new books were purchased. Bridge For Books, in operation for thirteen years, has made funds available every year of operation for projects involving books. In the past years, funds have also been given to the McHenry Public library, St. Patrick's school library and the Zion Lutheran church library. For the past three years, the money given to the McHenry Public library was used to purchase large print books for people with visual problems. These were so well received that the library has recently added a number of additional new titles to its collection. The popular couples' bridge tournament with thirty-two couples competing has been in continuous existence since 1962 with the following charter members still playing: Messrs. and Mesdames Charles Adams, Tom Bolger, Maurie Clark, Charles Cuda, Jerry Herkes, Henry Leisten, Norbert Mauch, Joe Moerschbaecher, Leonard Pawlikowski, Jerry Steinbach, James Stilling and Bud Uttich. chodSlotts Water There is enough water in the atmosphere to cover the surface of the earth with a sheet one inch in depth.
