There weren't many ball players to equal the per formance of Ken Henderson, White Sox Center fielder, last year. The Chicago sports writers have now named him "Player of the Year" in Chicago and will honor him at a dinner. You wouldn't believe! Yep. We went to see a style show at St. Therese's Hospital in Waukegan last Saturday. Good reason we attended. Our niece, Kathy Blake Orttel, was one of the star models. Of course, we thought she was the best. Had some worry that they would serve tea and wafers, but they set up a meal. Always try to give credit where an item isn't original. (STAFF PHOTO BY GAYLORD) Larkin Defeats MCHS Wrestlers In Season Opener By Dick Rabbitt Coach Marty Sobzcak McHenry high's wrestling squad lost its opening match of the year to Larkin of Elgin 31 to 25. It was a barnburner all the way as the Warriors trailed by only three points going into the final match. Both Coach Sobzcak and his top aide Bob Ludwigsen were quite pleased with the overall performance of the squad. Next Tuesday they open conference competition at Barrington. In the J.V. match Larkin won 51 to 12. Mike Mai won the only bout for the J.V.'s when he pinned Steve Ward in 1:58 at the 155 lb. level. In fairness to the Warriors the lower weights are made up of four sophomores and a fresh man. Coach Ray Mathis of the Sophs was well pleased with his VA L "MEANWHILE BACK AT THE COURTHOUSE" public school, in addition to some in the parochial school not included in the District 12 dual enrollment. Resolution Whereas, the Johnsburg School District No. 12 board of education and administration has studied the recom mendations of McHenry High School District Task Group & Citizens Advisory council with great interest and, Whereas, reactions to the recommendations to the above mentioned Task Force com mittee in the McHenry Plaindealer on Oct. 18, 1974, recent board minutes of School District 156, and accounts from our citizens on the Task Force committee, have revealed a great amount of controversy surrounding the costs analysis and some recommendations of the Task Force committee and, Whereas, a Johnsburg school survey as a component of our Program OSPI plan a year ago revealed much local interest for a high school in the northern part of the McHenry high school district, or in the Johnsburg School district and, Whereas, a Northeastern Illinois Planning commission report states McHenry town ship will grow at a more rapid rate than any township in Lake or McHenry county population- wise, between now and 1990 and, Whereas, we believe an excessively large high school from such population growth* will lose something for the CIRCUIT COURT Associate Circuit Judge Richard Kelly Karolin C. On The Sidelines With Dick Rabbitt Well I guess the best football played in the state is in the Chicago area. The Glenbrook North Spartans made a believer out of me. I along with others thought East St. Louis would win because of their impressive wins over Naperville and Gordon Tech. But the defensive minded Spartans had other ideas. As expected East Rockford won the Class 4A title. Their fast backs could really pick them up and lay them down. The Illinois High School Football coaches are having an All Star game next August in Normal. The division line is going to be Route 55 North out of St. Louis to Rt. 53 in northern Lake County. The top 44 from each division will be selected to play. Sounds as if that will be a good way to kick off the 1975 season. After the holidays the winter sport season will be in full swing. The Warriors are at Sycamore tonight, the wrestling squad and swimmers have already opened their seasons. Dundee and Zion Benton co-champs in the North Suburban last year are looking good again this year in their opening games. Both teams played to capacity crowds last week in their home of ners. Wouldn't it seem strange if you went to West Campus gym some night and had to struggle for a seat? Maybe this is the year that the Warriors will fill the gym for every game. P~OT Only one new basketball rule that will be noticeable. A player need not raise his hand after a foul. A few changes in wrestling that should be noted for the fans. One change is a contestant cannot compete in more than four matches in one day . The referee can call an official time out far the purpose of correcting equipment. One that all refs will like. The rule states that a person other than the referee can supervise the weigh-in for tournaments. Along with the wrestling rules, there are some changes in the swimming rules for the coming season. Most of the changes have to do with the categories of diving. This year they are; Very Good, Good, Satisfactory Deficient, Unsatisfactory, FaUed. Another rule change the backstroke turn may be done with either a hand or arm touch. 5 P.M. .OUTDOOR ' G R A Y S I A K E R I l ? 0 K 8 3 2 2 3 8 1 S S Fri.-Sat Sun. 7P.M. $4.00 CARLOAD He was the gangster's gangster.
