The fourth quarter was anti climatic to say the least. If we can only do as well on New Year's Day or even just win that will be great. From watching Ohio State against Michigan I can't see that they are any stronger than Notre Dame, but good old "Woody" was watching the N.D. game so I'm sure he will have something more in store for us. I did enjoy his comments during the game. He is quite a guy. Well as they say there is always another year, but being me, I won't say "better luck next time." When it comes to football, we are "enemies" but friends otherwise, friendly enemies. Best regards, Meandering Mary We watched the game come across on TV and still can't believe it, Mary. But, your team deserved to win. Any team that can bounce back like your boys did, must have something. Your Christmas must be Merrier. Now look out for 01' "Woody". And thanks for the Christmas wish. We love the Christmas spirit, but get shaky each year at this time. There are so many things to do. Our calendar is full from here on out - parties and what not. Not so good for our waistline. But, Ho - Ho - Ho! Who loves a skinny Santa Claus. / We received a picture from Marian Central showing award winners at recent athletic banquet. It is too dark and streaked to do anything with so we called Tom Parsley to see if he can find a better picture. We would like to print it; but this one won't do. If Wayne Gaylord can catch our high school coaches, he is going to take their pictures. Dick Rabbitt will get in formation so you can KNOW YOUR COACHES. The new coaches will be presented first. We were pleased with a nice note from Ida Quinlan, former McHepryite who now lives way down in Arkansas. She still reads what we toss out to the public. / "EARL WALSH So I Hear SPORTS EDITOR I NOW Our Reg. Price ProCessionally styled sk ates made from full grain leather ! Heavy duty mould ed toes. Warriors In Tough Doubleheader Weekend By Dick Rabbitt The Warriors of Coach Ken Ludwig face another tough weekend doubleheader as they host the Scouts from Lake Forest on Friday, and travel to Antioch on Saturday night. In North Suburban com petition, the Scouts beat Crown last week 69 to 65 in a real thriller. Coach Bill Braman has three lettermen returning, forward Bill Orlowski (leading scorer in the conference), forward Mike McWeeney, and guard Randey Gedman, all seniors. The Scouts are not picked to go anywhere by the conference coaches this season, and that is more than enough incentive for the Warriors to be on their toes. Last year the Warriors won 56 to 46 at Lake Forest, and the Scouts would like nothing better than to avenge that defeat. Coach Ludwig will have his crew at full strength for the game The flu-bug has left the squad and everyone at this time is hearty and healthy. Playing the ZeeBees almost even at home has to be a plus for the Warriors. They are a hustling ball club, that knows where the basket is located, and they can at times play awful good defense. They are a contender for the North Suburban Crown, but they can't take Lake Forest lightly. On Saturday night they travel to Antioch. Coach Roger An drews has another good ball club. He has four returning lettermen. Last year's team finished 13 and 0 in the Nor thwest Conference and won the Regional here at McHenry. Russ Albano a 6'4" senior forward and Mike Perrone a 6'3" senior center are the big guns for the Sequoits this year. It should be a whale of a game, as both teams will be out to win, to get the nod in the regional parings later this season. FRIDAY SCHEDULE Mundelein at Crown. Lake Forest at McHenry. On Saturday morning they edged the Zion frosh 53 to 49, and on Monday evening they lost to the Grant freshmen 48 to 41. In the Zion game the frosh started slowly and trailed by 8 at halftime. Being more aggressive in the second half proved the turning point, as they rallied for the 4 point win. Partenheimer led the scorers with 15 points, followed by Kotiw with 11. Steve Williams led the defensive with 15 rebounds. The young Warriors out rebounded the ZeeBees 69 to 45, and a great portion of the rebounds came in the second half surge. Lose to Grant The frosh lost their first game of the season on Monday night at East Campus gym. Grant defeated the locals 48 to 41. Trailing 34 to 13 at halftime the young Warriors just couldn't close the gap, although they hit for 58 percent of their shots during the second half. The loss leaves the frosh with a record of 2 wins and 1 loss. Steve Williams led the scoring with 12 pts. Dave Kotiw led in rebounds and Rusty Weingart led the team in assists while scoring 7 points.
