* Inw mm SERVICE NEWS Marine Lance Corporal David J. Lutzow, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert D. Vomastek of 2817 N. Hiawatha trail, McHenry, has graduated from Teletype Repair school at the Naval Training center, San Diego. During the nine-week course, he received instruction on the technical maintenance and repair of teletype equipment. A former student of Mac- Murray college, Jacksonville, III., he joined the Marine corps in September, 1973. Marine PFC. John D. Culliton, III., son of John D. Culliton, Jr., of 6008 Fox Lake road, McHenry, graduated from recruit training at the Marine Corps Recruit depot, San Diego. Physical conditioning, discipline and teamwork are emphasized during Marine recruit training. Classes include instruction in close order drill, Marine Corps history, first aid, uniform regulations and military customs and courtesies. Marine Sgt. David C. Harris, whose wife, Deborah, is the daughter of Mrs. Richard Zell of Ringwood, was meritoriously promoted to his present rank aboard the Attack Aircraft Carrier USS John F. Kennedy, homeported at Norfolk, Va. A meritorious promotion is awarded only to those Marines who have distinguished themselves through work, military bearing and leader ship. A former student of Wayne university, Chicago, he joined the Marine corps in February, 1973. James L. Oldenburg, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Olden burg, of Solon Mills, has recently left for Air Force basic training. Airman Oldenburg enlisted in the Mechanical field and will make his job selection while in basic training. After six weeks of basic military training at lackland AFB, San Antonio, Texas, he will be assigned to an Air Force base directly or to a technical training school. JOINSNAVY Ronald Romanelli has enlisted in the U.S. Navy and will leave Dec. 30 for Orlando, Fla. Ronald is the grandson of Mr an Mrs. Erwin Chermak of 81'J Royal drive, McHenry, with whom he makes his home. ATTENDSCOLLEGE Miss Laura A. Grom, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Grom of 2309 W. Country lane, McHenry, is attending Northland college at Ashland, Wis., this semester. Laura, a freshman, is majoring in Environmental Studies. She is a 1974 graduate of McHenry high school.
