HORNSBYS family centers •I* Original Prle? MASSES OF THANKSGIVING - Montini Middle school and Primary center pupils celebrated Masses of Thanksgiving recently. The older students attended St. Mary church and the Primary center, St. Patrick church. Father Joseph Kulak officiated at both Masses. Each student offered an item of canned food at the offertory as a sign to God of a willingness to share blessings with others. The food collected was distributed to the needy of the McHenry area. Wonder Lake Here And There In Business Mary Jean Huff 7280267 Larry Wenkel Inducted Into Honor Society Congratulations to Larry Wenkel, upperclassman at Marian Central Catholic high school. Larry ranks second in his Junior Class and was in­ ducted into the National Honor Society at Marian on Dec. 4, at a ceremony held for students, families and faculty. Larry is the son of Laurance and Joanne Wenkel who reside at 4121 East Lake Shore Drive, Wonder Lake. To earn this honor you must obtain a 3.00 average and be recommended by the teaching faculty. Honored that day was a total of seventeen Seniors, seventeen Juniors and eight provisional sophomores. Also, congratulations go to Tari Ruggero who was selected as a provisional member until she becomes a Junior. Tari is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. S.L. Ruggero, who reside at 4712 E. BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION A trip to the holiday decorated nearby shopping center this t ime of year can be a wondrous thing to a small boy and it had a very special meaning to Jimmy Wagner, son of Dr. and Mrs. M.W. Wagner, last Friday, Dec. 13. Jimmy, along with his mom and dad, his brother, Bobby, and ei 4ht l i t t le friends, traveled to a shopping center lo celebrate his seventh birthday. The group went to a restaurant that l ikes to help celebrate such happy occasions and as I hey were seated the children were given fancy hats and lollipops. All the favorite "kid's foods" were chosen by Ihe boys for their supper - cheeseburgers, french fries, and cokes, topped off with super sundaes with zoo animals on top Amid the commotion of a drum sounding out Ihe birthday news, everyone in the restaurant joined in singing "Happy Birth day" to Jimmy and also lo his friend, Bobby BirdselJ, who celebrated his birthday on Sunday, Dec. 15. With some very full tummies, Ihe youngsters toured a part of the area, looking at some of the beautiful Disneyworld decorations, the spectacular castle and of course, Santa Claus. The sleepy lit t le group that finally headed home for Wohder Lake included Chuckie Sowers, Mike Smith, Keith Borchardt, John Kelly, Adam Graham, Bobby Ashby and Rusty Graff. AUXILIARY SALE While you are out Christmas shopping, how about stopping at the Wonder Lake Hardware Store to pick up some hand­ made ornaments or other ar­ ticles that are made by the Fireman's Auxiliary of* Company No. 1. They are in a display case near the front of the store. FIRST COMMUNICANT On the Feast of the Im­ maculate Conception, Dec. 8, Danny Huff, son of Mr. and Mrs. Don Huff, received his First Holy Communion, at the 8 a.m. Mass at Christ the King church. Father D.E. Tranel said the Mass and Dan and his sister, Julie, brought up the gifts, while his brother, Tom, was one of the Mass servers. A celebration was held at the Huff home for Dan's grandmother, Verona Huff, and his aunt, Sandy Huff, of Richmond; for Dan's grandfather, Joseph Berner of Woodstock; for his godmother, Trudie Schuch, her husband, Mike, and three of their children, Ellen, Joey and Brian, of Crystal Lake and for Dan's godfather, Jim Berner, and his wife, Edie of Wood- slock. Also helping to share in this happy occasion were Dan's younger brothers, Kevin and Pal. CHRISTMAS WONDERLAND For all who view it there's a Christmas Wonderland in Ihe halls of Harrison School. Faculty and students have been decorating every nook and cranny with snowflakes, Christmas trees - even stained Ulass windows! The Christmas greeting from Ihe faculty in the hallway, featuring lifelike caricatures of each staff member is especially im­ pressive. Miss Pal Mayer and her committee have done an outstanding job. BIRTHDAYS Happy birthday lo George Hartmann on Dec 18 Happy third birthday to Patrick Sowers, son of Ann and Chuck County Manufacturers Elect New Officers The McHenry (jounty Manufacturers ' association held its annual election of of­ ficers at the monthly meeting The meeting was at the John Evans Inn in Crystal Lake. The newly elected officers are, president, John Stanton; vice- president, Jim McNames, and secretary-treasurer, Ed Mc­ Millan, Richmond On the program for the evening was an enlightening presentation on security ser­ vice and alarm systems. The main speaker was Ralph Obernoath, representing the AAA Security company, with a question and answer period directed by Clarence Philpot, owner of the company located in Crystal Lake. The importance of an early detection system was stressed to minimize fire damage. This same system might, also, cut down on water damage caused H by an activated sprinkler system The gentlemen made known the many other uses of an alarm system, the importance of employee preparedness and training, Ihe effect on in­ surance rates, and the costs of various systems. The McHenry County Manufacturers ' association has representation from plants all over Ihe county and mem­ bership is open to any manufacturer within Ihe county. Fourteen years ago, a group of manufacturers decided lo form an association in order lo become better acquainted, discuss common problems, have educational programs of common interest, etc. Activities through the years have included plant lours, displays at Ihe McHenry County Fair, special meetings for various departments within Sowers, on Dec. 19. STAR OF MONTH Otto Menolasino, special representative in Wonder Lake for the Franklin Life Insurance company of Springfield, has been named "Star of the Month" of October in the Mid- America region. Menolasino was honored for his outstanding personal sales production during the month of October. DECLARE DIVIDEND A quarterly dividend of 48 cents per common stock share has been declared by Northern Ill inois Gas company directors, continuing the rate established May 1,1973. The stated dividend rates apply lo preferred and preference shares. Too Many Santas?
