DECEMBER 20. 1974 * Ron Tannehill, coordinator of the police science program at ItfeHenry County college, and Carol Chandler, instructor in psychology and sociology at MCC, are shown preparing for a presentation at Marian Central high school. Tannehill and Mrs. Chandler presented a program on theories of crime and crime prevention to two sections of criminology classes. Officials said less formal proof of marriage and birth ffave been acceptable since 1971 when this information is needed to establish claims for bigger checks. Formerly the VA required all statements of marriages and births to be supported by for- m a l i z e d d o c u m e n t a r y evidence, it was noted. It was also pointed out a veteran's or widow's certified statement of marriage now is sufficient on applications for compensation and education benefits for veterans, widows and orphaned children- provided neither he nor his wife has been married before and VA has no contradictory in­ formation on file. TOUR CHICAGO SCHOOLS - More than 100 school board members and administrators from all over Illinois took part in a tour of the Chicago public schools recently. The tour was sponsored by the Illinois Association of School Boards and the Chicago Board of Education as a prelude to the sixtieth annual IASB conference in Chicago.
