TRI MARINE WONDER LAKE (815)653-3000 Holiday Hills Karen Kottke 385-6675 Sorority Holds Party For 30 Year Member At a party in her honor, Dorothy Haddick was pleasantly surprized by several of her fellow members in the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Dorothy is celebrating her thirtieth year of association with the sorority. Among the guests at the party, which was held at Lorene Farr's home on Thursday, Dec. 5, were Joan Cornwell, Cathy Siattia, Linda Thietje, Cathy Johnson, Sharon Powers, Karen Colomer, Stacia Russell and Donna Ernst. The loveliest surprize of the event was the presentation of a full sized bed quilt given to Dorothy by her fellow club members to commemorate the anniversary. Each person had prepared one square for the quilt and the squares were then fashioned into a beautiful full comforter. WOMEN'S CLUB CHRISTMAS PARTY On Wednesday, Dec. 11, the Holiday Hills Women's Club enjoyed a pleasant Christmas gathering at the Mahon residence on Birch street. The group enjoyed carolling, playing brain teasing games, and exchanging gifts. There was not an exceptionally large group in attendance but those who were there enjoyed a joyous pre-Christmas party. Don't forget the January meeting -- it'll be here sooner than you think! SCOUTING NEWS I understand that a Senior Girl Scout troop is being for med through St. Mary's church in McHenry. The information that I received on the two troop leaders for these girls is that they are two interesting and talented women who are affectionately known as "Salt and Pepper". Best luck with your troop girls and many years of success. Several boys from the area earned their wolf badges from McHenry Cub Scout Pack 361, Den 4. Among those honored were Craig Johnson, Billy DeWitt, John Wegener, and Kevin Reid. Keep up the good work boys! STAGE PLAY AT MONTINI The youth at Montini School presented the play "The Frog Prince" to audiences on Thursday, Dec. 5, Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 7 and 8. Among the players were Roseanne Catanzaro and Craig and Kirk Johnson. PIGEON FARM? Had any interested viewers noticed the only house around with a red garbage can on the roof and wondered why there was a garbage can on th# Child's roof?" Well, it's not a present for Santa, but -a home for a wayward pigeon. It seems this pigeon has adopted the Child's roof as a nesting spot so they are trying to make its quarters ^s Comfortable a* possible. For their efforts they should be nominated for the be kind to dumb animals award. BIRTHDAYS Happy birthday greetings to Peter Kline on Dec. 22; to Debra Smith on Dec. 23; and to Maureen Connell and Scott Thietje on Dec. 26. ANNIVERSARY Anniversary roses to Sally and Doug Carroll on their special day, Dec. 21. A SPECIAL BIRTHDAY WISH I was driving down Rt. 31 the other day and spotted a sign arranged on a house above their nativity scene proclaiming, "Happy Birthday, Jesus". This short exclamation captures the essence of the holiday better than any other. With this message in mind, we'd like to wish that the joys of Christmas touch you and yours throughout the entire holiday season.
