McCullom Lake Gerry Milbratz 385-8543 Filing Deadline Set For Village Election Feb. 10 6 Those planning to run for election in Apsjl are reminded that the last day for filing petitions is Feb. 10, 1975. Openings on the board will include the position of president for a two year term. There are six trustee,, openings two for four year terms, and four for two year terms. Park­ view. FISH DERBY For the first time, in five years, a fish derby will be held in McCullom Lake. It is being sponsored by the McCullom Lake conservation club, and money raised from the derby will go into stocking and taking care of the lake. Dates are Feb. 22 and 23, from 9 a.m. 'till 4 p.m. There will be hourly prizes awarded for largest and smallest fish caught, also a concession stand where food and beverages will be available, all day. The Conservation club consists of only a few members who are running the derby by themselves but could use more members and more help. Anyone interested in joining the club and helping with the derby is asked to attend the next meeting, Thursday, Jan. 16, 8 H,m., at the McCullom Lake beach house. BEACH GALS Seventeen gals attended the meeting Jan. 8, including a new member, Dorothy Cun­ ningham. A change and an addition to the by-laws were approved, also the budget and activity schedule for 1975 were iscussed and voted on. Scheduled activities include the Easter egg hunt, Halloween and Christmas parties, 'teen dance, also another 'teen ac­ tivity, not yet decided. Suggestions would be welcome. Another adult dance is planned, to be held in May, this year, instead of November, as the last one was. There will be a special membership meeting in April, and a bazaar is planned for sometime in November. With this full schedule for the coming year, it is hoped all members will attend meetings, and participate in the work involved. New members are very much wanted and needed and are invited to attend meetings and join the Beach Gals. °CONDOLENCES Madelon Barten, of W. Park­ view, died Jan. 2, after a long illness. AVesident of the village for about five years, Mrs. Barten was a member of the Ladies of the Lake for most of that time. Our sincere con­ dolences to her family, on her death. CORRESPONDENCE FROM FORMER RESIDENT Recently I received a letter from Eve Levesque in Arizona, which reads, in part; "We had a beautiful four day trip with our two vehicles. Only one other vehicle got between us for the whole 1,751 miles, and that didn't last long. Coming into Arizona, the terrain became very dull, and Matt was becoming more and more disenchanted. As we got nearer our destination, coming down a beautiful mountain road, about 45 miles out of Payson, Jake pulled over, and we all got out to view the scene. Truly breathtaking, featuring the Mogollon Rim, and that's when Matt realized the beauty of his adopted state. We had first planned to buy a new and much larger home, but it wasn't ready for occupancy, so we got our present one, about >2 mile away. Since it's so beautifully landscaped, and in a nice area, we've decided to stay put, and add on. One project will be a fireplace, for which we'll gather our own stones. * The first month after our arrival, it was very warm. I did a lot of sunbathing and have acquired a nice tan. Just before Christmas, the weather changed, and we had about 5 inches of snow, which is just about gone now. Bob and Gloria Muise, and sons, Robbie and Mike, were basking in the Florida sun and surf. They left the village Dec. 22, and traveled by^plane to Pompano Beach to visit Bob's family. They stayed with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Hall, most of the time. Bob's parents Jim and Verne Muise came up, and they all took a two day boat cruise to Marathon Island where the senior Muises live. It was an interesting and busy vacation for Bob, Gloria, and their sons. All enjoyed the warm sunny days, plus visiting many friends, and seeing the various tourist attractions in Florida, and the Florida Keys.
